This is a small inn with a cozy atmosphere. The retro atmosphere and the sound of the river were very pleasant, and since we were dining in our room, we were able to relax. The meal was sumptuous and the soba noodles at the end were very delicious! The only amenities available are toothbrushes, so it is better to bring your own lotion etc.Reservations were required for the family bath. The hot spring water was soft and felt very comfortable.

I stayed here for one night because I was attracted by the soba noodles. This is my first time at Shima Onsen. It was a small hot spring inn that seemed to be run by the husband and his mother. The hot springs are colorless and transparent, refreshingly hot, and very warming. Even though I didn't take a long bath, I was surprised that I didn't sweat for a while. It suited me better than Kusatsu Onsen, and the hot water was very pleasant. Each dish for breakfast and dinner was delicious and I finished it. Especially the sautéed mushrooms? I liked the fried chicken (fresh). Of course, the soba was also very delicious and my husband, who loves soba, was also happy. It may not be suitable for those who demand perfection in cleaning and service, but I was soothed by the heartwarming hospitality of the owner and his mother.I'll visit you again.

If you're traveling alone, you'll probably be treated very politely, but Kotobukiya Ryokan doesn't have that kind of atmosphere, so I'm thankful for that.Best food, best bath, best location, best service! ! Anyway, the soba is delicious! Even if you open a soba shop in Nagano Prefecture, it's definitely worth it! If you're looking for an expensive soba restaurant in the Karuizawa area, Kotobukiya Ryokan's soba is the best!

The mother and son's customer service is courteous, and you can spend your time relaxing and calm. The food and drinks were delicious [as other people have said, I wish they would serve the rice as well. If you wait to eat it with rice, the side dishes will get cold. Also, am I the only one who found the ginkgo nuts in the chawanmushi to be sour? Dinner is filling. The reasons why it's less than 1 star are the stairs from the parking lot to the entrance, the stairs to the room, the stairs to the hot springs (maybe difficult for people with weak legs), and the fact that you can reserve two private baths for one (for men and women). The other bath wasn't used much this time, so it would be nice to have it as a private bath and soak in it slowly. Also, the changing room in the private bath is small and there is no hair dryer, and the sink is in the back of the room, so it might be difficult to use.I have a lot of things to think about, but the hot spring water is nice and calming, so I will visit again.

This hot spring inn is located near the Shima River and you can hear the sound of the river, making it very calm and relaxing.I visited just in time for the autumn leaves, and the maple trees in front of the entrance were in full bloom. The hot springs are wonderful (usually men's and women's baths, and the open-air bath is reserved for private use), and the temperature is so high that you will feel warm from the core of your body. However, the private open-air bath only has one faucet and the hot spring itself is small, so it might be a bit unreasonable for several people to try to take a bath together. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room. The handmade soba noodles and rice were especially delicious and the total amount was quite large, so I was full.During my stay this time, I compared the local sake, and the dinner I had while drinking three types of sake was the best (^3^)Breakfast is like the Japanese breakfast, but all the dishes are elaborate so I think you can eat all the leftovers. It was nice to be able to see the autumn leaves clearly from the window of the inn.I'm sure it's difficult because it's a family-run hotel, but it was a ryokan that made me want to go again.

It's a small inn, but it was quiet and relaxing. Dinner was also fulfilling, and the soba noodles were exquisite. I felt the price was reasonable.

This inn is located on a quiet site near Shima Onsen. Each meal is large, so it's best to be hungry. The hot springs are quite hot, so you should be careful not to get burned.
