A beautiful historic townhouse, combining tradition with modern amenities. The house was clean, spacious and very well equipped. Our luggage was transported from the check-in desk near Kyoto Station to our accommodation free of charge. The location was good, a railway station, taxi stand and several convenience stores all within walking distance.Unfortunately, the bathroom had a plumbing issue when we arrived, affecting the water drainage in the shower, sink and toilet. This took three days to be fixed after we reported it and should have been noticed by housekeeping prior to our arrival! Frustrating (and possibly broken) lock system at the front door. We stayed in early April and it was quite chilly due to lack of insulation, wouldn't recommend staying during the winter months. Beaware this house has some very high steps and an extremely steep staircase!

The hotel that manages the accommodation is near Kyoto Station, so you have to stop by there and check in first. I liked that if you leave your luggage at the hotel, one bag per person will be moved to the accommodation for free. The staff were all friendly. The 800 yen tax can only be paid in cash. The alley where the accommodation is located has an old Japanese feel, so it looks great if you take pictures in front of it.The accommodation is located in the alley on the left when you walk straight for about 5 minutes from Kiyomizu Gojo Station Exit 4. There are Lawson, Family Mart, and 7-Eleven on the way, so you can buy what you need. When I got to the accommodation, the heater was smartly turned on. The room on the second floor was small so it was warm just by turning on the heater, but the first floor was so spacious that it was cold even with the heater on. Due to the nature of the building, it is not good at blocking outside air, so it will be very cold in the winter. The sleeping space is two connected rooms on the second floor, and each has a heater. The accommodation is well-equipped with amenities, such as a dryer, washing machine, iron, umbrella, kitchen tools and tableware, rice cooker, microwave, and Wi-Fi, so you can stay for a long time. Mirrors are only in the bathroom. Since there is no dressing table, it would be much better to have a table mirror. The water in the bathroom shower doesn't drain well, so if you do something wrong, it could turn into a bathhouse. You have to turn the water on low to take a shower. The hot water works very well.I don't know if it's because it's a wooden building, but it's very dusty. I think it would be nice to have an air purifier.Even considering the few shortcomings mentioned above, it was a great place I would definitely stay again! I really liked the location, service, and feel of the accommodation!

It was used by several people for day use. Thank you for allowing us to start using the service a little earlier.I had always wanted to stay in a townhouse, so I only stayed for half a day, but it was a nice space with a small garden. I was able to use it with peace of mind during the coronavirus pandemic, where infections are increasing and decreasing. It was a great place to share time with friends from far away. I wish I could stay there again sometime.

The staff's response was very kind and quick. The accommodation was as beautiful as I had imagined. If you want to travel as if you were renting a house, I think it's good because there are delicious bakeries, supermarkets, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple nearby.Although we stayed in June, we were blessed with good weather and although it was hot, we were able to stay cool as the inn was not originally a hotel that received a lot of sunlight. For those who usually spend bright nights, it may feel very dark. Also, if you are bothered by the noise from outside, you may need earplugs. Here's a request. There were mosquitoes, probably due to the heat and the gap between the windows, so it would have been nice to have something to deal with.I also thought it would be a good idea to put the Wi-Fi password on a separate piece of paper.I wish there was a Yogibo cushion in the tatami room on the first floor so I could lounge around.I had a great experience! thank you very much.

This is my third time using Machiya Residence.I have had a comfortable and enjoyable stay every time, and Suigetsu was also very satisfied with how beautiful the garden was. However, I felt that it would be better if they could improve the fact that the water in the bathtub did not have enough drainage, and hot water pooled under my feet during the shower.

Attracted by the miniature garden, I stayed in a townhouse.I used it for a day trip with a remote work plan.It has a beautiful miniature garden just like the photo, and although it is a townhouse, it is stylish with Balmuda electric appliances. The windows in the garden can be opened 80%, so when the seasons are nice, you can enjoy a miniature garden that feels like a terrace. However, what I was dissatisfied with about the facilities was that the heating almost didn't work and it was very cold. The bathroom was probably the warmest part of the room, as the bathroom had its own heater. There was a separate heater for the feet, so I used that, but it was sized for one person.I don't know because I haven't used the second floor, but it seems like the second floor gets better sunlight, so it might be warmer there. There is an elementary school nearby, and the walls are thin, so if you are working from home instead of sightseeing, it will be quite noisy during school hours, so you may not be able to concentrate. There is a delicious bakery nearby, so it is recommended for those who like bread for a long stay.
