The location is very good, with easy access to the public hall and red bricks.The owner was also a nice person.The room was clean and I was very satisfied with the plan that included breakfast coupons that I could eat at the morning market.I was a little concerned about theThe smell of sewage in the unit bath went away after I turned on the ventilation fan.

The building was constructed in 1909 (Meiji 42) as the former Mori Ubei Shoten, a seafood merchant. It is a two-story wooden building with a total floor area of approximately 340 square meters. It stands out from the typical Japanese-Western architecture, which has different structures on the first and second floors, and is characterized by its Japanese style at the front and Western style at the back. After being used as a seafood merchant, it was used as a clinic by the Japanese and Russian fishing industry, and after the war, it was used as a guest house, but it had been vacant for about five years.The hotel acquired the land and building in February of this year. The renovation cost approximately 65 million yen, including acquisition costs. There is a monument commemorating Niijima Jo's overseas travels in the area, and it was named ``Kaikoan'' because it was close to Perry's landing place. (From Hakodate Shimbun HP)
