This time I booked a triple room.I was very satisfied with the spacious room and cleanliness. There is also a hot spring nearby, about a 4 minute walk, and the owner is very kind.I only stayed overnight because I wanted to have a luxurious meal and hot spring outside, but I was satisfied because the price was cheap to begin with. The old house has been skillfully renovated. It's like traveling back in time to the Showa era.It was very goodI stayed here on August 10th.It's about 20 degrees at night, and there's no air conditioner in the room, but the room with shoji screens doesn't get stuffy.I slept comfortably.thank you

Are you tired with hot and humid in Tokyo? If so, you'd better take Shinkansen to Karuizawa. Koya Backpackers is the best choice for budget travelers. …

I stayed here on a solo trip during Golden Week. It's far from Karuizawa Station, so you'll need to use a bus or your own car.It was great except for the fact that it was a dormitory. The beds are comfortable, and although the house is old, it is well-equipped with all the facilities. I was happy that there were heaters in various places. The staff was very kind. When I asked for directions to a nearby waterfall, they were kind enough to help me.I was wondering how to have breakfast in Karuizawa, and I ended up having breakfast here. You can choose bread or rice for 700 yen. It was delicious. It depends on where you're going, but I think there's no reason not to use it if you can fit it into your travel plans.

Hidden gem in Karuizawa! The hostel was very nice to stay at, very cozy space. The house itself is very traditional Japanese style architecture, feels very magical. Shared kitchen was well equipped :) The area have many onsen options! The host was really friendly and answered all of my questions about hiking trails. The chef was lovely and made wonderful food. I think this hostel really made my stay in Karuizawa great!

Really enjoyed my stay at Koya Backpackers. Very friebdly host/staff and everything was clean and tidy. It's an old but lovely renovated japanese house. The big table in the common area makes for good social gatherings and i really enjoyed hanging with the other guests there (it was raining heavily so good to cozy down with a cuppa coffee and have a chat). There is a kitchen, laundry facilities, showers, etc. Onsens in walking distance and the nature in the area is just really pretty. In my 2 weeks cycling through japan so far, this area had been my favourite, can very much recommend to visit :-)
