When we hiked the dirt road to Magoroku Onsen in late September 2023, the access road was closed to car traffic and a sign posted that the Onsen is temporarily closed. Arriving there, the buildings were in various stages of decay with broken windows etc. Unfortunately it would take a major renovation to open this place again.

June 18, 2023Nyuto Onsen Village "Magoroku" will reopen next fall after extensive renovation, and surrounding inns will work together to continue management!Magoroku Onsen, which has been in operation for more than 100 years in the Nyuto hot spring village of Lake Tazawa in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture, has found it difficult to continue its business due to the lack of a successor and the aging of its employees, so five inns in the hot spring village have invested to take over management. Although it is currently closed, preparations are underway for its reopening next fall, saying, ``We must not let the light of Magoroku die out.''

2022.11Select Magoroku Onsen from Nyuto OnsenkyoGood cost performanceAbout 10 minutes walk from the parking lotThe feeling of a secret hot spring is incredible.There was a light rain in the open-air bath, so it felt a little warm.That's why I was able to take a long bath.My wife refused to use the open-air bath separately...All the food was country cuisine and was delicious.It's really delicious!

I visited on a day trip during the cold wave in December. We walked through the snow, but it wasn't that difficult.Since it was before 3pm on such a snowy day, I thought there would be no one in the mixed bath so I tried it. I wanted to go to the indoor bath from the changing room, but as soon as I came out of the changing room, I was immediately transferred to the mixed bath. I was a little surprised.My husband and I warmed up and took a bath in the open-air bath. It was an open-air bath that wasn't that big. The white one was Yunohana, and I wonder what the brown one was? ?The other Karako-no-yu had an open-air bath for women, but it was snowing heavily that day, so we couldn't go in because the snow would fall.So, I only went to the indoor bath made of wood. It was a bit hot, so I alternated between using only my feet and having fun while chatting with the male bath owner.

There are women who come in with bath towels wrapped around them, so if you don't want to be seen naked, you shouldn't come. Why am I the only one with a bath towel wrapped around me? This is the kind of place I'm in, but if you're embarrassed, you should go somewhere else.

It can't be helped that there are no hidden hot springs within a hidden hot spring, but I would like to at least have handrails and stairs for elderly people to enter the bath.

I visited on a day trip to the hot springs.It feels like an old spa and has a sense of history.It was a shame that only hotel guests can use the indoor bath.There are two open-air baths for mixed bathing and one for women only.If you go too close to the river side of the women-only parking area, you will be able to see it from near the upper parking space, so be careful. (They said that when the wives were inside, a person who looked like a mountaineer looked at them with something like a telescope.)

It is located in the deepest part of Nyuto Onsenkyo. It is best to go from Kuroyu Onsen using the Yumeguri bus. From Kuroyu Onsen, go down the mountain path and arrive in about 10 minutes. It is convenient to use the Yumeguri-go on your way back. There is an open-air bath filled with hot water flowers.

2022.10.23It looks like the autumn leaves are in the final stages.It is located at the innermost part of Nyuto Onsenkyo, so it has the feeling of being a secluded hot spring.The hot water in the mixed bath is lukewarm. There were a lot of fallen leaves in the open-air bathtub, which made it a little uncomfortable.In addition, in the women's open-air bath, there was a lot of green algae floating in the bath along with a large amount of white water flowers, which felt dirtier than fallen leaves.It was a shame even though the water was very nice.

The rice is delicious!! ️You can fully enjoy the countryside of Tohoku! ️ Hot springs too!! ️Those who go mountain climbing/hiking will probably like the atmosphere of a mountain hut rather than an inn. ️
