I trusted the reviews, but unfortunately it wasn't a good experience. Decent food, nothing special, nice place but poorly maintained, lots of dust and in Japan even in the cheapest hotels there is more cleanliness... Also because the price they charge absolutely doesn't deserve the service it offers. Whoever made me pay (I think it was the owner) was a rude person because I paid by card and he was all annoyed. I have never seen a Japanese person with this arrogant attitude, I told a waiter about it and he understood the situation and humbly apologized for him. Luckily not all Japanese are like that... So I absolutely advise against it as long as it is managed by this gentleman.

Used for lunch. When you arrive, rice bowls and somen noodles are already placed on the table, and once you are seated, the salt-grilled sweetfish, rice, and dessert are brought to you all at once.By the time I ate my last meal, it had become hard. Also, the soup stock rolls and meatballs taste like ready-made items.6,600 yen is a bit expensive for this content, but I'm glad I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of the river bed.The highest temperature in Kyoto City in mid-September is 33 degrees. The surrounding temperature was high, but the river bed was in the shade and close to the river, so although it wasn't cool, I felt like I could barely make it through. It looks like it's going to be tough if it's hotter than this.

I had Kawadoko cuisine in midsummer. It's a great atmosphere and the food is delicious. I took a photo with a maiko! However, midsummer is hot, so it might be better to change the timing a little.

Stayed at this ryokan for two nights in august (so hot!) during a two week trip to Japan. This was hands down THE HIGHLIGHT of our trip. If you are going to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and get off the beaten path, you must go here. THIS IS THE SPOT.The staff are extremely professional and kind. The location is beautiful in ANY season. The food is amazing! The Keiseki dinner was fabulous if you’re even the slightest bit adventurous with your palette. The sukiyaki was amazing, and the breakfast is beautiful and delicious. The rooms are traditional, charming, and comfortable, but have most every modern amenity you could want! Why would you stay anywhere else if you’re coming to Kyoto?

You can feel the kindness of all the staff. I felt very welcomed by them. The room and open air bath were very satisfying. The Kaiseki cuisine and breakfast in the evening were also excellent. Each dish looked delicious and neat. Entering the mountain valley, this ryokan creates a very mysterious and beautiful atmosphere. During the two-night stay, I will remember this space for its kindness and comfortable accommodation. If I ever visit Kyoto again, I would like to stay again.

It's not as cool as Kibune. The situation just looks cool. The location is great. Customer service is friendly despite the high price. In Kyoto, you have to be close to the customers, which is tiring. A sculpin was singing. No need for weird shakuhachi BGM.
