Before we booked this place we couldn't find a single useful review, so I'll leave one that comprehensively tells you what to expect.First, let me say that as city folk from Singapore we enjoyed ourselves a lot. 5 stars means perfect, 4 stars is great, with some room for improvement. The GOOD:-- Ignore the pictures on google, they are not updated. You get a fully refurbished Kelong that provides similar in-room amenities to an average international 4-star hotel. Check Agoda or similar for updated pics.- Tasteful Decor that merges modernity with old-school Kelong. Rare, if not unique. Lots of material for social media. Wi-Fi is available, if a little spotty.- Scenic view of the water and coast in all directions, water is clean and inviting when it doesn't rain- Spacious balcony with excellent sea view attached to each room- Sincere and thoughtful service staff that try to go above and beyond, though slightly lacking experience with international guests- Spacious room, tranquil surroundings most of the time. Great space to unwind and disconnect.- Spend time with your loved one watching sunrise, sunset, seabirds diving for fish, etc. without pesky emails coming in.- Complimentary Mini Bar (Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks), best to BYO.- Many things are possible but not automatically provided. The staff and management try to accommodate your every need and request, but you may need to prompt them.- Management drove us around almost everywhere we needed to go, to the point that you feel bad and try to get your own transport, but fail due to spotty cell service.Would be perfect if these could be improved:-- F&B could be provided at the villa itself or delivered from the beach (same management). Lunch/Dinner requires a 10-15 min walk down to Vio Vio beach. The walk itself leaves you with dozens of mosquito bites and isn't all that pleasant, especially at night because most of the route is pitch dark. Now, the GM of the property seems happy to give you a lift to and fro whenever you call, but eventually you feel bad and try to minimise going out.- Shower pressure is like other Kelongs i've stayed in, weak and with limited hot water. Strangely, the tap has strong water pressure.- No Wi-Fi in the room, and the brand new TV is digital, so no TV. (but they are working on it)- The place is pretty inaccessible, if you come without a car it isn't that easy to get around. Taxis and ride hailing are pretty much non existent, you have to ask for a lift from the GM to leave the beach. GM is very accommodating but if you intend to use this as a base to explore Batam, it isn't ideal.Generally, it offers lots if you are adaptable and not fussy. For us it was one of the best weekends in quite a while!
