Hands down the best place to stay on the Kumano Kudo! The hosts and staff are so welcoming, friendly and beyond helpful. You get an entire guide to your next day on the trail. There is no language barrier, they have wonderful communication skills. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The rooms are cozy with air conditioning and a great futon and pillow. We will never forget our stay, so memorable!

Our stay at SORA was a highlight of our holiday/honeymoon. Naomi and Yasu were brilliant hosts, so friendly and welcoming. Naomi kindly spent time with us to plan the second day of our hike on the Kumano Kodo (the hike was more challenging than we had anticipated so Naomi suggested a route for us which included a bus). They prepared a delicious evening meal in the big dining space; breakfast set us up for the days hike, the lunch kept us going - all very tasty. The guesthouse was so clean and cosy, with everything (and more) that you could need. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience for us.

Great place to overnight on the Kumano Kodo. The owners are the loveliest hosts. The lady speaks good English, and with the other guests, over dinner, we all had a great conversation. Dinner was amazing, and breakfast was very good, too. Spotlessly clean and hi-tecj toilets. Just wish the futon was a bit thicker to pacify my aching bones.
