Though I cannot recommend this to city slickers, whom are unable to appreciate a rustic country life. I have to say after meeting the owner of this place and her son, Shigeru, they deserve as much patronage as possible.Shigeru and his mother opened this place a number of years ago and since then it's apparent that the mother has become senile. Shigeru, her son, takes care of her well, but because of this some things fall by the wayside. By this I mean that the toilet and shower facilities are rather dirty. If you can't handle some squalor I would say keep away. But the squalor is honestly part of the charm of the Mandokoro, it is reminiscient of a time long past where survival and livelihood took the front seat to cleanliness. In lesser words. Shigeru is bae, give him yo business. He deserves happiness. Sayonara.

This Farm Stay is perfect while walking the Kumano Kodo. Kind hosts and the food was really good. Felt healthy and they honored us as vegetarians (for the most part). Our beds were comfy and warm. This place is a little rustic but seeing the host take such good care of his mom, warmed my heart ❤️.

I do not recommend this place for sleeping. The people are very kind but everything is terribly dirty. Very atypical for Japan.

Stayed here for the second night on the Kumano Kodo Kohechi route. It really feels like staying in a farmhouse in the countryside. An elderly mother and her son are both being attacked.

We had a wonderful experience of staying in a simple friendly Japanese home. It felt very authentic. Perfect for those who value authenticity above luxury.
