First, let me start with the staff. When you arrive, they open the door and greet you by name. When you leave, they stop the traffic for your taxi and escort you all the way outside. The middle is also filled with wonderful service. …

We had an incredible time! The staff are very friendly, welcoming, hospitable, and made adaptions to our needs at short notice. We are so grateful for their beautiful display of culture and food, we were well taken care-of! I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet getaway in the midst of your touring of Japan!

The Musashino ryokan is an incredible experience. The entire staff are very friendly, kind, and provide very polite guidance to our first time staying at a ryokan. They are also very accommodating to our kids. The inn is beautifully decorated and maintained, including the rooms and the baths. The location is excellent, right in front of the deer hill with plenty of friendly deer walking about right in front of the property. There are also walking areas, small shops, shrines and temples within walking distance. "Downtown Nara" is downhill about 25 mins walk, with more eating, shopping, sightseeing options. We highly recommend this place and we can't wait to go back again!

It's pricey but glad we chose this for our honeymoon venue. We chose the room with private bath. And we could soak and look at the night skies. Cold air. Hot water. Super chillax. Room was spacious, and fun experience wearing their yukata. Ladies get to choose prettier fabric :P I slept under the tatami cover and it was a little hard for me, but my partner was fine. Food was nice, had better omakase experience elsewhere. Having bento breakfast on the hilltop overlooking the city with picnic mat provided was nice. It gotten pretty hot by 10am. Other than that, the experience was great! Overall service was excellent as well, just be prepared to use Google translate to ease conversation. They have a device to translate to guests too but to communicate back, good to use translator too as most of the staff are not well verse in English.

I can't recommend Kotonoyado Musashino enough! It was exactly what I needed for a relaxing experience in Nara. The ryokan was breathtaking and full of serenity, and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The kaiseki for breakfast and dinner was great and full of fresh ingredients in traditional dishes. It's a lot of food! The best part about breakfast is that you could choose to have it outside with the deer.Location-wise, the ryokan is in a prime spot. It's situated right between Nara Park and Mt. Kasuga Primeval Forest. This means there are lots of deer as soon you step past the ryokan's gates. It's also a short walk to Todai-ji and Kasuga Taisha. The room itself was very spacious and had everything we needed. The private onsen was easy to use and was as relaxing as I had hoped it would be.I hope to one day stay at Kotonoyado Musashino again!

Amazing experience, best stay I ever had, and we travel a lot all over the world :)My wife and I stayed at Kotonoyado Musashino for 3 nights, and wished we stayed longer! This Ryokan features traditional Japanese style, attentive and friendly staff, delicious full board meals, and is located basically inside the Nara park so we could walk to all the places we wanted to visit. We booked directly through their website, which is recommended, and we got to attend the tea ceremony, and to choose our room. Their website includes floor plans and pictures. Our room had a cherry tree in the small private garden that started blooming :)The whole experience was exactly what we could hope for from a traditional Ryokan, capturing the magic and beauty of japanese culture. Visit this place and tap into the beauty and peace of a real Japanese style Ryokan. We will be coming back for sure :)

We arrived early and the staff kindly stored our bags whilst we explored the beautiful surrounding area of Nara. The tea ceremony was so beautiful and a very lovely experience. Our room was beautiful and the semi-open onsen was so nice! Dinner was such a wonderful experience! We stayed on Christmas and the staff made a special cake with candles. Even though there were some slight communication barriers (we do not speak Japanese well), the staff made us feel so special. Each dish was explained carefully and had such fine detail. Everything we ate was so delicious! I highly recommend staying here! This is one of my favourite things we did during our stay in Japan. Thank you to the wonderful and kind staff for making us feel so special!

Our group of 9 stayed for one night and it was the highlight of our 2 week Japan tour. The accommodations were authentic and very comfortable. We enjoyed a wing of the Ryokan and had our own onsen. …

this ryokan is absolutely breathtaking. It is located in the middle of the Nara park surrounded by the deer, and in an environment where everything is calm quiet and green. I stayed in a room that was Japanese style. …
