It functions wonderfully as an inn, and you can receive services that you wouldn't expect from a guesthouse. The reason for the 1 star even though the service is good is that the regular old men (40s to 60s) who come to this inn are quite troublesome, and their language and attitude (they look down on me) are the worst. , I ended up getting angry at the female helper at the inn and the young female guests I rarely encountered, and although it wasn't very bad, I couldn't stand watching them, and I myself was verbally abused. The owner pays no attention to this and remains silent. Also, when I'm drinking and talking with a female customer, a drunk man gets furious and asks me if I'm sexually harassing him or who are you, and we get into a lot of fights. It's popular on Booking.com, and we get a lot of foreign customers, but the troublesome guy doesn't speak English, so he doesn't interact with foreign customers. So I think Booking.com has a high rating. As mentioned above, there are many regular men who use it as if it were a girl's bar at night, so depending on the timing, it might be a bad night for male customers. Needless to say, there are young female customers. The customer base is generally older, and I think it's an inn owned by foreign tourists who are traveling and old men who are regulars. The owner is a very kind and nice person, but I think that's why he leaves unscrupulous customers alone.I believe that this is an inn whose rating changes depending on when and when you make a reservation.Since it is located in Yamagata, the imoni made by the owner is exceptionally delicious. It was a long post, but thank you to everyone who read this far.

Hide and his staff Tomone were very welcoming. They gave us a tour of the house and invited us to their family meal (donation based). This meal was by far the best meal we've had in Japan, home cooked, healthy and extremely homey and comforting. If home cooked meals aren't your thing then the house is also stocked with snacks and quick food you can heat/warm up for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed family meal, it gave us an opportunity to meet the other guests and chat with Hide about his recipes. Thank you for everything! We hope to be back again soon!

I visited back in September 2023, i booked the rooms through their website. although I arrived there at 10pm, they welcomed me with free dinner and offered me some sip of their homemade sake. there were other people staying there and we talked a lot to eachother. although my japanese my broken, they were really understanding and helpful towards me. I really felt like home, they even shared their stories while offering me more drinks, the check out time wasnt strict so I could rest a bit more in the morning. overall unforgettable experience and I would recommend for solo backpackers or even 2 person backpacking rest place.love from Indonesia.

This is a clean guesthouse with all rooms private. Yuntaku is held every night, and guests can interact with each other. There are also cute cats. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but I think it's well worth the trip.

Every time I stay here, I not only meet many different guests, but the house is so ordinary that it feels like I'm visiting a relative or friend, and the Yuntaku banquet with the owner's home-cooked meals and live music is not pushy at all, and time passes naturally. Masu. In the winter, the stove and cat in the atrium lobby add warmth.
