I stayed here to climb Mt. Haguro. This is my first time staying at a lodging.I chose this option because I had an early morning prayer and bath (the website says it is until 11pm), but when I checked in on the day, it said it was until 9pm...There was no refrigerator in the room I stayed in.The sesame tofu in the vegetarian cuisine for dinner was especially delicious. Since it is a Shinto-style restaurant, alcohol is served. There is no drink menu, but they seem to have sake and beer. The beer was Asahi Super Dry, 700 yen a bottle. At first glance, the bath looks like a hot spring, but it is not.Is the bathtub sized for 4 to 5 people? It's relatively deep. It was warm at this time of year. For early morning prayers, only those who wish to do so will have their name and prefecture of residence (or country name for foreigners) called. It was a valuable experience.thank you very much.

I enjoyed my stay here! As someone who’s not a morning person, I hesitated to book because I wasn’t sure about waking up for the morning prayers 😂. But I went anyway on both days of my stay. The prayers start at 7 a.m. and last about 20 minutes. Your name will be included in the prayer which is a nice touch. On the second day when the majority are none Japanese speakers, the staff even arranged a translator. For those who may be wondering,it is not mandatory to join—I saw some local guests who were at breakfast that didn’t attend the prayers. The room is really, really spacious, they have air conditioning and the food (both breakfast and dinner) is fresh and absolutely delicious. The showers and baths area is clean and huge! Even though I stayed during a full weekend, I always had the bath to myself. The baths aren’t operational during the day, but you can still shower. The staff and the family running the lodge are very kind. I got by with my limited Japanese, but I’m pretty sure they can speak English well if needed.

A highly valued experience by myself and my partner. It was quiet, peaceful and a very magical experience. The hosts are Mountain Monks (Yamabushi) and are wonderful people. We were shy at our first prayer but by the morning we left we were all in.The rooms are huge. Likely the largest you will ever get in Japan for the price point!Immaculately clean bathrooms. Location is a short walk to the main attractions.I would recommend you stock up on convenience store items/snacks and drinks before arriving in this area! (No stores like this close by)Give this place a go and find out for yourself - I will be visiting again next time I am nearby!

Wonderful place to rest and relax as you your the Dewa Sanzan. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast and lunch provided is the best traditional Japanese food I've ever had. While not everything was to my taste, I am happy to have had the opportunity to try something I wouldn't normally have chosen for myself. Will come back again!

The host was really kind and wonderful. To our pleasant surprise, she offered to drive us up to Haguro-san to see a night religious festival, then drove us back as well. The room was spacious, quiet and clean, and the beddings, towels and pyjamas provided were also clean and comfy. There is also an onsen (and the host kindly extended the hours when we came back late). The meals we had were sumptuous and delicious! The location is good, near a bus stop and within walking distance to walk up Haguro-san. Strongly recommended!

We had a truly enjoyable stay with our lovely, generous hosts. I was bowled over by their kindness (offering a ride up/back from Haguro-san at night) and humbled by the Hassaku festival experience. My only regret was not allocating more time for exploring the other temples/shrines in the area.

It was my first time staying in a lodging, and it felt like an inn. |It's like an inn with a private room and a bath, but since it's a lodging, dinner and breakfast are ``Shojin Ryori.'' …
