Iwaiya, a member of the Secret Hot Springs Protection Association. It was my first stay. Naturally, the hot springs are quite good. The temperature is hot. All rooms are tatami mats and there are no slippers provided. If you are concerned about going barefoot, we have tabi socks so please wear them. You can get coffee for free in your favorite cup☕️☕️After all, it is an old building, so there are some tatters. Our room was on the third floor of the detached building, but there was a slight smell of humidity in the hallway from the stairs. I thought it would be better to light it with incense, but it's at the discretion of the landlady✨The food is quite voluminous and will leave you full🍴🐷💓.a! There is no safe in the room.

If you like to go to Japan to bathe in hot springs, you must have heard of the "Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association". Even though there are some controversies about this association in Japan, for me, the few I have followed are undoubtedly good hot springs. Therefore, I also asked me to add these secret soups to the "Little Tiger Foodie Group", in addition to the fixed itinerary highlights of Michelin, Railway, and Hoshino.Today we are going to share the fourth secret hot spring we have ever soaked in. It is also the only 1,300-year-old hot spring and 150-year-old hot spring hotel in Sanin. In addition, the atmosphere and cuisine of Iwaiya are among the best among the hot spring hotels I have stayed in.The Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association was established in April 1985, and the name "Secret Hot Spring" was coined by the Asahi Travel Association. The association initially consisted of 33 inaccessible hot springs hidden in mountains and forests across Japan. The concept is "with history, high-quality springs, located in deep mountains and forests with inconvenient transportation, and without circulating hot spring sources...". It will be planned from 2024. There are 147 secret hot springs that have joined the association. Interested friends can go to the official website of the secret hot springs association to see how many of them they have soaked in. The official website distinguishes these secret hot springs by county and city, and also provides link services for booking rooms. A manual titled "Japan's Secret Soup" is also published every year, just like Michelin.Iwai Onsen is the oldest hot spring in San'in and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 famous hot springs. It is one of the very few whose history can be traced back to more than 1,300 years ago. The "Iwai House" where I brought the members of the "Little Tiger Foodie Group" to stay this time is one of the very few secret hot springs owned by the "Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association".During Iwai Onsen's heyday, which lasted for more than 300 years, there were more than 10 hot spring hotels. Unfortunately, a fire in the hot spring town in 1934 caused the rapid decline of the hot spring industry in Jiji. Coupled with the impact of the epidemic, there are currently only two hot spring hotels, the Iwaiya Akashi family. According to the staff of Iwaiya, the current Iwaiya was rebuilt after the fire in 1935, and the interior is decorated in ancient folk style with a new warmth. In addition to being a member of the Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association, Iwaiya is also a popular folk craft inn. In fact, Yamada Yoko, the 7th generation female general of Iwai House, is also the guardian of Tottori's traditional folk crafts. Almost the entire Iwai House is filled with Tottori handicrafts. For example, almost all the wooden tables, chairs and other furniture in the hall are the work of Tottori craftsman master Shoya Yoshida. Even the chair cushions are Japanese national treasure "Katze dye", which is the work of Tottori dyeing and weaving master Keiko Teraguchi; In the glass cabinet are the pottery of Japan's national treasure and Okinawan potter Jiro Kanejo, as well as the ceramics of Tottori's Iwai kiln and Enkoji kiln. Afterwards, we also interviewed the Enkoji kiln under the introduction of the female general. We had the opportunity. Let me introduce and share with you; in addition, in Iwaiya, you can enjoy ancient paintings, calligraphy, dyeing and weaving crafts everywhere.Iwaiya's hot spring contains Glauber's salt gypsum and has a temperature of 50°C. The spring is colorless and has a slightly salty taste. According to the general, because the hot springs here do not add water, when the temperature is too high, you have to turn the water to cool down."Longevity Soup". Walking into the Taisho Onsen-style filming location, the high-ceilinged wood, Showa stained glass, and mosaic floor tiles are all so beautiful. The open-air hot spring is Ikekato no Yu, which is surrounded by large smooth rocks. It has a pleasant feeling of soaking in a wild stream. The signature white paper lanterns of the Japanese secret hot spring を Shou Yu Kai give this hot spring a mysterious atmosphere. There are a total of ten kaiseki dishes for dinner. In addition to Tajima beef hot pot, there are also various seafood from the Tottori Sea of Japan. It is one of the most favorite kaiseki dishes I have ever tasted.Iwaiya: 544 Iwami-cho, Iwami-gun, Tottori Prefecture, Tel: +81 857-72-1525Detailed text: https://www.foodtigertw.com/blog/post/50925180

Day trip bath use (¥1000). I was able to enjoy the feeling of being in an extremely soft bath.Although I wasn't able to take a bath in the bathtub that has water flowing from the water below the floor, the other bathtubs also have free flowing water from the source, and the quality of the hot spring water and the way the water is used is excellent. The atmosphere is good, and the changing rooms are air-conditioned and well-maintained.The nearby public baths were crowded, but this one was empty and I had it to myself. The reception hours for day trip baths are short (12:00 to 2:00 p.m.), but we recommend it if the timing is right. You can't go wrong with an inn run by the Secret Hot Springs Protection Association, which is also wonderful.

I visited in the summer of 2024.Since I visited on a weekday, there were no foreign customers, so I was able to spend a relaxing time overall.I was able to refresh myself with the very nice hot water and the customer service of the staff.I would like to visit again in a different season.·buildingA quaint building with a sense of history.Recently, it has become more and more modern due to renovations, but you can enjoy the good old architecture. However, there are some parts where there is some creaking and poor soundproofing, but it is important to go with the spirit of having fun.・Hot spring townThere are no restaurants nearby, and this hot spring is located in a small town. Therefore, we recommend that you eat your meals at your inn.If you are staying without meals, you will need to buy one before coming to the area.·mealMeals will not be served in your room, but will be served at the restaurant. It was very delicious. The portions are large, so we recommend visiting on an empty stomach.·hot springA hot spring with a history of 1200 years. The deep bathtub that gushes out from your feet is unusual. At 20:00, men and women will be allowed in for 24 hours. You can enjoy high-quality hot water flowing directly from the source.・All inclusiveThe site uses the expression "all-inclusive," but it didn't seem to be a very common all-inclusive.We weren't particularly aiming for this, so it didn't bother us at all, but some people may have the wrong impression.Essentially, it is a service where you can enjoy free drinks (coffee, water, alcohol or juice depending on the time) and a small amount of tea and sweets in a common rest area.Drinks for dinner must be ordered for a fee, just like in a regular hotel.
