The owner is very kind and friendly, good at talking, and has good English. He is very interested in other cultures. He brought us gift beers.I recommend cooking at home for two reasons: it is a great experience to cook at home since it has the necessary utensils and also the nearby restaurants may be closed. You can buy ingredients at the supermarket which is about a 5 minute walk away.

Beautiful house and garden with everything you need for a cozy stay. The beds are comfortable and the blankets warm. The host is super friendly with excellent English. Great music records selection available to play and create a chill atmosphere.We highly recommend the place!

This house was an amazing stay!Atsushi the host is a really great guy who loves music and is super helpful. My partner and I stayed here for the nakasendo trail and Atsushi dropped us into Magome by car. He also helped me retrieve my battery pack when I left it behind. 10/10 nicest person ever!The house is really beautiful and authentically Japanese, and sleeping on the futon in a tatami room was priceless.If you are planning on coming to the area, you would be foolish to not stay here!

Can't recommend this place enough. The house is about 130 years old and beautiful inside. There's lovely garden outside, a great host and very convenient location for the train and food in town. Was so refreshing to stay here and experience an authentic Japanese guesthouse experience after busy Tokyo.

I suddenly decided to go on a trip to Gifu.Although we made a last-minute reservation, the host welcomed us as soon as we arrived at the inn.The two of us stayed there, but there were no other guests so we rented a large inn!It was my first time to be in such a big old private house and I was constantly exploring the rooms lolI really felt that it was a perfect place for people who love the countryside.Thanks to staying at SHIGI, I was able to meet some nice shops nearby, and the next day I also found a nice cafe that the host told me about, so it was a great trip to Gifu 😊

A unique accommodation in Japan in an ideal location to explore the nature and old post villages in the area.The house is beautiful with tatami floors and traditional walls and ceilings. It is close to the train station and the host is extremely nice and accommodating! Price-performance is also very good.Thank you very much Assi!
