This is one of the best and most incredible places we have ever stayed on a vacation. The cottage is fully handmade and seeing it in person conveys a tactile meaningful quality that is hard to put into words. We stayed for five nights and every day we discovered new hidden things to love about Mauna Lani. There are just countless touches that make it so cozy and deeply considered.I'm going to name just a few things we especially loved. The hospitality from the host, Yuya-san, who built the home, is incredible. He is kind, friendly and genuine. The home itself has a warmth to it that flows freely through this hospitality and the epic scenery. We saw a breathtaking starscape at night and a case expanse of greens and the blue of the Okhotsk Sea in the daytime. It was truly what you could call healing nature.Cottage or cabin are words that bring to mind function and coziness, and both are present. There are so many satisfying aspects like the beautiful garden with delectable fresh produce, the sliver of the outside view from the bathroom that makes a shower feel all the more that you're in nature...even the smallest thing like the satisfying click of each latch or the toilet seat raising automatically when entering the lavatory. There's a lot to love here and we really cherished our time and felt grateful to be able to come here. It's very convenient to Shari, Utoro and makes a great base from which to explore the eastern Hokkaido coastline. We went up to Abashiri and Monbetsu for a day trip, and in the other direction to Shiretoko on multiple occasions. It was very convenient with a car to get to and from Kushiro Airport. Nakashibetsu may have been even more convenient as an airport, but we really wanted to drive to Kiritappu on our way up.Anyway, this is a really special place. You can feel the love poured into every plank and nook. If you are ever heading up to Shiretoko, or if you are looking for a place in the world to truly enjoy nature in a deeply comforting space, I can't imagine there is any better location.

The cottage was so cute and wonderful that you couldn't believe it was handmade. The room was spacious and warm, so I was able to have a good rest. The light coming in from the window in the room was very beautiful. I was able to enjoy both sunsets and sunrises without any interference, as if I had the scenery all to myself. The facilities were well-equipped, so I didn't have any problems.

I went to a cottage in Shari-cho, Hokkaido with my partner. It was a completely private space, surrounded by rich nature, and I was able to spend a very quiet time. The facilities were clean and well-equipped, so I was able to stay with peace of mind.I would like to use it again next time.

This time, it was during the coronavirus period, so I'm glad I chose a house on a hill where I wouldn't meet other people."Mauna Lani" is the name of the hill that reaches the sky near the road that has been popular on Instagram for some time. There is no obstruction, and the sunset on the road that truly leads to the sky is impressive. The sky is full of stars and the moon is clear and beautiful. Everything in the room was handmade, and as I swam for a while, my eyes excited, my daughter found a sea turtle swimming around, and the chairs, tables, and lamps had been decorated, there was a map of the world, and the phases of the moon.I unpacked my belongings. Preview of Kumamae: We were able to climb onto the roof of the inn, where astragalus and herbs were planted. Below us, we could see the spectacular view of the horizon, the horizon, and Mt. Shari. Here, we took off our masks and had a great time. In the morning, there were pillars of frost in the garden, but the room was warm with two stoves, the cooking utensils were well maintained, the owner was very friendly and kind, and I was able to recharge my energy at the private inn on the hill. This is a place where I would like to stay for a long time and experience the feeling of being in a villa. There are no shops around, so it's safe to bring your own ingredients.

Arrived in the evening in bad weather. Before I could see the scenery outside, I entered the inn and was surprised! !We welcome you with various kinds of warm light.Everything I saw in the room was handmade by the owner, and it felt like something out of the Ghibli world.Early in the morning, I couldn't help but cry out when I saw a huge rainbow over the Sea of Okhotsk that filled my window. And it was truly amazing to see the pines in the windbreak shining golden in the morning sun.We also had a luxurious breakfast while looking out at Mt. Shari, Mt. Mokoto, and the fields. It was really nice to stay at Mauna Lani (the hill that reaches the sky), right next to the road that leads to the sky.I would like to stay here again someday when I come to Hokkaido. We recommend staying for several nights and relaxing! !
