I stayed as a single person for one night without meals. The rooms are simple and compact. The tatami room had a bed and a table, so it felt as safe as a child's room at my parents' house. As for soundproofing, I could hear the noise from the stairs, but it wasn't a big deal.Hot springs are the best. You can use the general hot springs for day trips, and you can also use the family baths by the hour. The hot water is colorless and transparent, but it is thick and is the kind of beauty bath that I like. This water is fed directly from the source, and there are both indoor and outdoor baths. Guests can use the facility as many times as they like, so we came in at night and in the morning.Although the space is compact, it was almost reserved due to the small number of guests. At the reception, you can get instant coffee in the evening and drip coffee in the morning. Jazz creates a calm atmosphere.I took a walk in the adjacent park, which was also beautiful and refreshing.

We stayed for 6 nights at Pension Birao and were extremely happy with the accommodation, the facilities and the service, and the location. We stayed in a self-contained unit in the Annex behind the main building. The unit was well appointed with cutlery, crockery, and cooking equipment. We used the two king-single beds on the ground floor. They were extremely comfortable. There was also more sleeping space on a mezzanine which we used for our suitcases. There was a small sunny balcony overlooking the large quiet park at the back. The bathroom had a shower and bathtub, which we never needed to use because Pension Birao has an onsen with the best water!!There is a small public onsen that is also available for daily visitors, but what is really special is the family bath that you can book for 40 minute slots in the morning until 9:00 and from 3:00pm. There is a rotemburo in both places. Being able to have a private onsen was just amazing!!The other services included a bbq hut, free coffee and tea in the dining room, and the use of the dining room looking out towards the river. The service was wonderful. So friendly, and the family couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. It's a perfect base for exploring the area - where there is so much to see. We're already planning our next visit to Pension Birao.

It was my first time using a pension in my life.I was a little nervous when I visited, as I had only stayed at regular hotels, but the owners were very courteous. When I told him that I would be early the next morning, he offered to give me a ride to the station, and when I was about to go shopping, he said, ``Do you want to use a bicycle?'' ”, which was very helpful. As other people have said in the bath, your skin will feel smooth after soaking in the hot water. The bathhouse isn't that big, but it doesn't feel as trashy as regular public baths, so I think you'll be able to relax. As a disadvantage, Wi-Fi is weak. I think it has to do with the location, but if you can use a 5G line, I don't think you need to force yourself to connect. Also, perhaps it was just a coincidence that the room I stayed in was like that, but the indoor washroom only had a small amount of water even when the faucet was fully open.(Enough level for tooth brushing)Overall, although the facility was a bit old, I was left with a good impression of how politely they treated us.Although it was a short stay, I was glad that it was my first time using a pension.By the way, Mashu Station is about a 25-minute walk away, but if you contact us in advance, you can have someone pick you up.I was dropped off at the station early in the morning. (300 yen)I hope this will be helpful to those who will be visiting in the future.

It's about a 30-minute walk from Mashu Station, in a very quiet location on the banks of the Kushiro River and next to Suigo Park. This time I used the annex (separate building). I think the room can accommodate up to 4 people, with 2 beds + 2 futons in the loft. Although the room was not luxurious, it had a variety of amenities and was convenient. The staff at the inn are kind and courteous. He also gave me a lot of advice regarding the itinerary, which was very helpful. There are two types of open-air baths: private and shared, but both are about the same size, so we recommend renting them privately. However, it can be seen from the outside and from above, so women should be careful.Overall it was a very nice stay. Thank you for your help.

I stayed there with my dog as a base for a trip to eastern Hokkaido. There was also a private bath with hot springs fed directly from the source, and it was great for hot spring lovers that you could take a bath even at night. The whole place is clean and the host is very kind!I think the price is reasonable, or rather cheap for an inn where you can stay with your pet.The hot spring water was coming out of the faucet in the bathtub in the room, and the dog seemed to be feeling good, and his fur was now smooth!Only one room is dog-friendly, so early reservations are recommended! This is an inn that you would want to stay at again!

I used a condominium with my dog in August 2024. The facilities were as written on the inn's website. It was well kept and I felt safe using it.And best of all, the location was great! It takes about 20 minutes by car to Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. Kushiro River is right next to the inn. Cross the bridge and you will find a roadside station. The Suigo Park along the Kushiro River and right behind it was great for walking the dog.Although the Taxi GO app was out of range, a taxi was waiting at a nearby station and came right away when I called it.

2024/8/7 It's 3:30 pm at Lake Mashu in heavy fog and light rain...I'm in despair because I can't see anything at all from the observation deck, and what's more, it's too difficult to wash my clothes, take a bath, and find a place to stay! 😭Then I realized that there was a paradise like this nearby that had everything!Thank you very much for your generous hospitality towards an old man with no common sense who rushed in in the evening! 😆
