Although the inn is in an old building, the room I stayed in was comfortable and had two rooms with a bed. The hot springs were very hot. At first, I filled the low temperature side with more water and finally put it in. However, once I got used to it, I was able to go to the high temperature side. The food was delicious and the quantity was just right.

This is a beautiful traditional guest house that is family run with top hospitality. The room is very spacious - split into two areas. The sleeping area is modern style with western beds and a little sitting area next to the beds. The living room area is traditional Japanese style with tatami floor and a low table and seats which I love! I had to work on some days and would sit in the living room comfortably. I was on the 2nd floor overlooking the beautiful garden. My home away from home. There is a large thermal flask which they fill with hot water everyday, green tea bags in the room and a teapot and tea cups to make yourself tea. There's also a mini fridge, a toilet and wash basin.Like most traditional Japanese guest houses the showering is done in the onsen which I have grown to like as a practice because I love going to the onsen everyday. After skiing all day and being in the cold, a little soak in the onsen feels so good! All amenities are provided in the onsen and the yukatas they offer interchangeably are pretty.I had a scrumptious breakfast every morning in the breakfast room with a lovely garden view. There's almost always too much food for me to eat- meticulously prepared and delicious. I enjoyed speaking to the cook that would bring me my breakfast. During my stay I had one in-house dinner and omg it was incredible! We had many Japanese dishes, appetizers, sashimi, main dishes, a sukiyaki and dessert - food heaven! One evening I brought back two kimonos and asked the lady boss if she knew how to put on kimonos the right way and could help dress my friend and I in the kimonos. (The Kimonos are not from this guesthouse, I'd borrowed them from someone else!) She gladly obliged and came over with her mother and aunt, these two elderly ladies helped dress us two girls in kimonos the proper way! It is quite a ceremony, putting on the layers of a kimono the proper way. They even gave us the traditional Japanese socks to wear. Arigato gozaimasu!I'd sprained my ankle during my trip and the staff at the guest house gave me a towel, ice pack and some medical plasters and were checking on me regularly to see how I am and if I needed anything. I felt taken care of and safe staying there. I would come back to stay!

Small Ryokan, good location in yudanaka and the couple that run the ryokan made us feel welcome. Indoor and outdoor onsen and tasty dinner and breakfast. Rooms were large and comfortable
