My mountain friends made a reservation for me, and I stayed there for two nights. This was my first time in Shiga Kogen, and I was overwhelmed by its size and surprised by the number of hotels. I thought it was summer season, but our group and one other group were the only guests staying on both days. I guess it's because skiing is the main thing here. It felt like the other hotels were empty too. However, you can also have a lot of fun in the summer. Unfortunately, we had to change our plans due to the bad weather, which was a bit of a struggle, but the hotel staff was very helpful, kindly offered to pick us up and drop us off on our way to the mountain, and even gave us a free evening tour to see the Genji fireflies. They even picked me up and dropped me off at the airport, doubling my enjoyment of the mountain. The hotel's location is near the gondola station, which made it easy for me to expand my range of activities.I was also surprised that they could provide such a luxurious meal for this price. As a big eater, I ate it all, but some of my friends left because of the amount. Both dinner and breakfast were luxurious. Of course, the large public bath was also spacious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot springs in the morning and evening. The staff was very responsive and I thought this was a real asset. Now that I've finished my mountain trip, I'm soaking in the afterglow of my trip, thinking about spending a week there as a summer getaway.

An amazing place to stay in the heart of Shiga Kogen. We LOVED Hotel Iwasuge and the people who run it. We were greeted in warm and friendly manner and that set the tone for the entire stay. The location is AMAZING, the food is AWESOME, the rooms are WONDERFUL, the onsen/spa is GREAT for your sore ski muscles. I was genuinely sad to leave here and miss seeing the lovely staff who helped us on a daily basis. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Iwasuge to anyone who is after a genuine, friendly 'taste of Japan' place to stay in Shiga Kogen - you wont be disappointed.

Thank you for your help for two years in a row.The view from the dining room just before breakfast was beautiful.I'll upload a photo. It was the closest hotel to the Higashi-Tateyama Gondola, and the customer service was good. There were two changes in the number of people staying, but each time a different person in charge carefully explained the price and room allocation. On the day of your stay, a staff member from the inn will be waiting in a parking lot a short distance away, and will provide you with an explanation of the parking location and transportation to and from the inn. The room I checked in also happened to be empty, so I was able to get into it early. The food is not a buffet either, but the warm rice and miso soup are served to you with a smile.Although the on-site facilities are showing their age, the hot springs have a nice view and you can take a bath even after checking out, but the hotel was highly satisfactory. However, it is a small detail, but I noticed dust on the filter above the bathroom sink when using the hair dryer.Other people have noticed it too, so I hope they clean it up soon.I would like to use it again next year.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Multiples times when buses weren’t running and we were stuck at a bus stop, they picked us up from their own van!Despite the staff not speaking much English, I didn’t find any issues communicating with them due to the power of google translate.Massive portions for Brekky and dinner. They didn’t offer any ski rentals when we went, but did sell lift passes and we went to a nearby shop to rent ski equipment.

We rented a set of shoes, skis, and poles for 2,000 yen a day.Since our hotel was in Higashidateyama, we skied down Bunadaira, bought a 6,000 yen ticket for the day in the central area, took the gondola, and were able to ski a lot. However, there is no place in Shiga Kogen where you can use ski bikes or anything else, so I don't think I will use it anymore.I don't think it has anything to do with skiing or snowboarding.I stayed for 2 nights, and the meals were plentiful and filled me up. There's a lot of chicken, and it's not as good as a high-end inn, but it's delicious.
