The lady boss doesn't speak much English and needs translation software to communicate. But the proprietress is very kind and the service is very good. She provides shuttle service to and from the station and rents bicycles for free.It was my first time to experience accommodation in a traditional Japanese home, and it felt great!(2019 07 01)

As others have written, I think it's a comfortable accommodation. However, drafts come in, so the heating doesn't work very well in the middle of winter, and even when I get into the futon, my neck and head are so cold that I can't sleep. To protect against the cold, you should be able to get away with buying cheap products at home centers, so it seems that improvement is needed in that regard.

Although I checked in late at night, I was welcomed warmly. They also made preparations for me to go to a nearby hot spring, so now that I think about it, I wish I had tried it. The room was spacious and comfortable for one person to sleep in. Thank you very much🙇

Anyway, it's cheap, but the security was so scary that I didn't think I'd be able to stay there again. It's a wonder that no incidents occur with the doors open everywhere. It's an old house that has been renovated in places and the Japanese-style rooms are rented out, so of course there are no keys to the private rooms, and you can hear the sounds from the rooms next door. You can hear people walking in the hallway and people standing in the toilet, so there is really no privacy. It might be fine if you're a student or foreigner who just wants to stay cheaply, but it's probably best not to stay in a female-only group or even as a couple. Also, although there is an air conditioner in the room, there is no air conditioner near the entrance or kitchen, so the water gets cold after taking a bath in winter. Summer is hot and you might get heat rash. You can use the local hot springs for free, which is about a 2-minute walk away, but there are no amenities, no washing areas, and no showers, so you have to bring everything from the hotel, such as an oven, chair, and shampoo. Although it was a hassle to get around, the quality of the hot spring water was good and my skin felt good. The owner was kind and attentive, like preparing something light for breakfast, but he basically didn't interfere, so we didn't see each other except at check-in.

Megumi is a very kind host (and she speaks enough English for communication). We had a great stay at the tranditional house. Although it is a bit far from the downtown, with free bikes provided by Megumi, cycling through the town was a wonderful experience as well (it absolutely matched my expectations of a Japan town from all the Japanese animations I watched) ! Megumi picked us up from the Kami-Suwa station and she dropped us off where we rented a car. Would like to come back again :)

The price is really cheapHowever, since it is a sliding door, I think it will be difficult unless you are concerned about security.Recommended for people who like connecting and talking with various people♪private? You can use the bath for free, but the smell of sulfur is amazing (lol)My hair smells like sulfur every time I wash it.And since there is no shower etc., I feel like storing it in a bucket and using it.It was quite painful. It might be great if you just want to soak in it (lol)

It's a calm inn that looks like an old folk house, and you can use the hot springs that locals can use, so you can relax comfortably.
