Kasumiso is a picturesque ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) surrounded by lush greenery. The inn is in fact a centuries-old traditional lodge for participants on the Oyama Pilgrimage. …

Super interesting talk about the unique architecture and useage of Ooyama area ryokan. The tofu making demonstration was easy to understand, i feel like I could make it myself at home if I wanted! …

The couple that owned it were very friendly and sweet. You could tell that they were excited to have visitors. I enjoyed the buddhist script copying, it was relaxing.I enjoyed learning how to make tofu and can check that off my bucket list. The tofu is famous in the area because it’s made with the water from Mt. Oyama, you kind of tofu that’s not the same as store bought.

I went there for a shukubo experience. The priest was very informative and gave us a tour before practicing calligraphy and learning how to make tofu.
