An affordable and endearing stay, Hostel Kamakura was one of our favorite places to rest within 15 days in Japan. It is run by a family and only has 3 6 it feels more like a guesthouse/homestay than a hotel or bacpacking hostel. Accomadations are cozy but comfortable and varied, a full kitchen, bath tub, shower, dining and seating area. They also have many books and pamphlets for tourists in Kamakura and Japan at large. The building is right next to the monorail, so it rumbles by regularly, but the location is convenient, and the house is fairly quiet even so.The hosts really make the experience!! They were extremely communicative and helpful when we had train challenges before even arriving, and went above and beyond to help us settle in when we arrived: drawing baths when we returned from our day out, prepping tea, helping with luggage, and even dropping us off at the station when we happened to leave around the same time. Their English skills and hospitality were both more refined than hotels, much more expensive and well known.

The room was very clean and comfortable. However, if you raise your voice, it can be heard well outside the room.

The owner's family is very attentive and makes for a comfortable stay. The facilities such as the accommodation room, kitchen, bath, toilet, living room, etc. are not new, but they are kept very clean and beautiful, so you can use them comfortably. In the garage of the 30 series Alphard, I can park the car in reverse and put the top half of the windshield in so that I can barely get in and out of the driver's seat. It's difficult to get on and off using the sliding door, and there isn't much room, but I feel like I can get in.I think the location is a good location for sightseeing in Kamakura as it takes less than 20 minutes by car to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. It was a very good hostel that I would like to use again.

I had a great stay with my three children and friends. Very comfortable and cozy including the room and the beds too! English instructions are in bathrooms(1 Japanese style bathroom and 1 shower room) etc, and the host can speak English as well. You will feel at home because of their great hospitality! You might be able to view the mountain Fuji from outside. My kids loved the host and they were exposed to learn about Japanese history. Wonderful experience indeed!! I’ll visit them constantly for sure!!
