This was the most disgusting place i ever been to. Our room was full of hair and dust. The sheets were dirty (there was even makeup on our sheets). There is only an ice-cold shower, and the hot spring was way too dirty and hot to enter after the freezing water. The service was also horrible. An old lady from the hotel opened our door at 8 am, no nocking or any kind of warning she just opened it and told things in Japanese, which we don't understand. After we closed the door, she came again five minutes later. I'm highly recommend staying away from this filthy place!!

Amazing experience. The ryokan onsen are really cool, especially the outdoor one.The breakfast is truly typical of Japanese gastronomy, copious and tasty. Just a little misunderstanding we were convinced to have evening meals included, Booking is not very clear on this.

Had a wonderful stay at Hishiya Torazo for 2 nights. The private onsen is outdoors and absolutely beautiful with 3 pools of different temperatures. The meals were out of this world both breakfast and dinner with 10+ different small dishes cooked by grandma. The rooms were traditional Ryokan and I had the best sleeps on the futon. The owner is such a kind man, service was impeccable. Shibu onsen was the highlight of my 2 week stay in Japan!

An incredible place, whose antiquity can be guessed just by entering. This ryokan is magnificent! The rooms are spacious and well equipped, although a little cool in autumn. We were very well received and we were able to taste the traditional, typical Japanese breakfast. The best part of this ryokan is its onsens, including one outdoors that can be privatized: an incredible onsen made of stone pools and small fountains.A unique place to visit in Yamanouchi!

The not so good:Futon so thin that my bones were touching the floor. Painful. I was able to add other futons to help make more comfortable. It was ok for one night but could not stay another.Zero sound proofing. I guess such an old place, to be expected but it was almost a nightmare with internal noise. Guests should be asked to be considerate. The dinner and breakfast - while extravagant and made with pride and love was on a whole not my taste. The breakfast was perhaps too much food but this is a personal taste matter. The older lady who made the dinner and breakfast was such a beautiful person that I wish I loved the food just because of her.The good:The onsens were lovely. My favourite in the town. And I had all to myself as only female staying there! The accommodation was very clean and the house itself beautiful. The Yukata to wear - was grand. I loved it.The family who run the business were really nice.Shibu onsen is very quiet. Good for one night and I would recommend this ryokan.

I decided to go to Shibu Onsen, so on the morning of my stay (around 10am), I called Kahisiya Torazo, who had reservations available.Grandma answered the phone. When I asked if it was possible to stay the night, I was told that they would check and that it seemed to be vacant, so I was told that I would be sure to reserve a room for them. However, regarding the food, he said he wouldn't know until I asked his son (maybe the owner?), so he asked me to call him again around 2pm.The grandmother on the phone seemed to be 90 years old, and when I made the reservation, I gave her my name and phone number, but she could barely understand me and it took me 5 minutes to understand her correctly.Despite all this, I was relieved that I had found a place to stay, so I called at 2:00 pm while sightseeing. However, when I called, I was told, ``There were no rooms available. I tried calling many times to let them know, but I couldn't get through. I want you to look for somewhere else. If you find accommodation elsewhere, I'm worried too.'' That's why I want you to tell me,'' and so on.I don't want people who can't listen to what's being said to be at the telephone reception desk. It's really too sloppy.Later, I heard from the proprietress of another inn that something like this had happened to another customer at this inn before (she had made a reservation but couldn't get it). Apparently, he was unable to find another place to stay and returned home angrily. Please be careful when making reservations.(It may be okay to make reservations online, but I heard that someone else had the same problem, so just in case.)November 3, 2023
