From the bottom of my heart, I offer my condolences to Mr. Takashi Wakamashi, also known as the founder of the great Japan Free Tibetan movement, and the former chief priest of Tokugyobo, the Great Priest Shinkai Wakamashi. We hereby praise the revered saint Wakamaso, who has perfected the salvation of sentient beings and saved people like a living Amitabha Tathagata. Until the day when the people living in this world of suffering will be saved from the world of paradise and true world peace will be achieved, together with Amida, we will illuminate all the people.

Our first experience in a Japanese style inn, in fact a Shukubo, which forms part of the temple lodging. We loved every aspect of it, the rooms the communal baths as well as the meal experience which was fantastic. The atmosphere was very special

This was our first taste of three local Japanese inn's. Set in a beautiful, authentic side street in Nagano. Located a short walk from, numerous stores and the incredible Zenkō-ji Buddhist temple. Bathroom facilities are shared. There is a sizable onsen to relax in after a long day of walking. brace yourself for the heat, then relax!

I loved my stay here and enjoyed every moment. ||||Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the owner and served tea before dropping our bags in our rooms. The rooms are basic, but I feel that added to the charm of this lovely Shukubo. …

We came here as a group and it was my first stay in traditional Japanese lodgings. I was impressed and the staff were very friendly. The vegetarian breakfast was nice and filling, although I struggled to sleep on a futon the first time! …

This is a traditional Japanese inn. We stayed here while on tour. Bathroom facilities are shared. You sleep on futons on the floor. Unfortunately, they aren’t very thick and are not very comfortable.  …

We came here on a group tour. The rooms are traditional with tatami mat floors and futons. It was very cold whilst we were there, but we were snug in our room on the ground floor.  …

Zenkoji Tokugyobou is what is called a Shukubo, in Japanese, meaning an accommodation in a temple. It's not that you live inside the temple, but in the accommodations that belong to the temple. …

The rooms are divided with screens and are a nice size. There was plenty of room for 2 mats to be placed on the floor. There is a 9pm curfew. The facility was very clean. There are shared same sex bathing facilities. …
