My husband and I stayed with our 2 dogs for 2 nights in mid-October. It's a wonderful inn. By renovating an old private house to make it more comfortable, I was able to have a lot of fun and refresh myself during my stay. I am humbled by the fact that my beautiful wife is truly considerate, and I would appreciate it if she could do a little more business with me, so please don't push yourself too hard and end up collapsing.Thank you very much. I would definitely like to visit again.

My family of 5 had the most wonderful experience at this beautiful, traditional inn. Japan has a well deserved reputation for hospitality, but Maki, the proprietor, far surpassed all of our expectations. Maki was such a lovely, kind host, and so responsive to all questions. She always went out of her way to help, whether it be looking for an English speaking dentist for an dental emergency, to giving us advice about the attractions we were visiting, to ensuring our 9 year old was happy and well fed.You can tell the family inn is lovingly cared for. The tatami rooms are spacious and airy, and the futon bedding so comfortable. Everything you could possibly need is provided. As a huge bonus, there are 2 private onsen baths to relax in. And the cutest, most well-behaved dog, Kenta, to hang out with (as well as a fluffy cat)! But aside from the great accommodations, I would book again just for the food. Maki's mom prepares the most amazing breakfasts and dinners. It was really the best food we had in our 2 weeks in Japan which is saying a lot! There are so many dishes at each meal, we really should have stopped eating halfway through but couldn't because everything was so delicious. All the ingredients used are of the highest quality, these meals would have cost a small fortune where we are from, especially the huge portions of premium beef and all the fresh seafood! Eventually during our dinners, we did have to tell Maki we couldn't eat another bite because she was going to bring out even more food!Out of all the wonderful places we stayed during our time in Japan, Yadoya Shiroganeya was still the best! Maki and her mom just made our time there so memorable. We hope to return again one day to see them again!

Delicious food, comfortable baths, and homely hospitalityI went skiing at Togakushi Ski Resort at the end of March. Dishes that can only be tasted here include pickled wild vegetables and odorless carp and rock fish. A clean room and two comfortable baths. The hospitality of a family-run business and the cuteness of their signature dog. Repeat is confirmed.Added on 8/16/2023 I repeat it every year. Children love the delicious food, which changes the contents each time so they don't get bored. The tomato sukiyaki hotpot, snow trout and carp sashimi, and soba tofu are all delicious. The carp on the secret menu is really delicious! Enjoy delicious food, a relaxing bath, and a cool room that doesn't require air conditioning even in the summer. My tired body was reset.Added on 8/13/2024 Repeat this year as well. Tomato sukiyaki hotpot made with seasonal tomatoes is a flavor bomb. The Yamame fish sashimi we ate this time was so delicious that even the children were in agony. At a private inn, I was grateful for the thoughtfulness of the landlady, and I was soothed by a pleasant bath with Kenta, the cute guard dog, and Fukumaru, the assistant cat, who has grown into a strong pusher.

Thank you, Maki-san, for allowing me to experience the unique Japanese hospitality. I would like to express my deepest respect to Maki-san and her family who run such a loving inn. I want to come again! We travel mainly all over Japan every year but my husband and I both agree this is the best Japanese ryokan we have ever stayed in recent years. When Maki shows you around or introduces the ingredients to you during the meals, her eyes are shining with pride and sincerity. Those furry friends would definitely make your stay more exciting but if you are afraid of dogs/cats, no worry at all - they are very well-behaved and never get into your personal spaces on the second floor (I actually had to chase Kentai and Fukumaru all the way, begging them to play with me). Food here is a piece of art, and the massage chair is the killer. We have stayed in much more expensive places on this trip and in the past, but none can beat this one in terms of the level of attentiveness to details. We were a little rushed this time, but we are already planning another trip to come back to spend more nights here. If you are looking for an in-depth immersive experience with authentic Japanese culture (other than anime), this is the place you should check out!I would recommend fasting before coming here! A super recommended guesthouse, a Japanese-style cultural center with a deep sense of immersion. The Shinshu Beef Cup is a long-lasting Japanese beef pot, which is truly human-tasting. The quality is very high, but it is a century-old old folk house, but the interior is very bright and elegant, and it has an elegant fragrance.

The inn and the landlady were so wonderful that I wanted to give them 10 stars.I made the reservation with the idea that I was going to have a little fun, but after staying there I realized that it was a great hotel for the price. (I don't think you'll find this level of hospitality anywhere else, including hotels.)The landlady will tell you a lot about the inn and Togakushi, and since it's more than just food and a bed, we recommend that you take your time starting from the check-in time. There was incense burning in the entrance and hallway, making it a lovely space. The building has been designated as a traditional building, and the plumbing and toilets are new, making for a comfortable stay with a good balance between tradition and modernity.I visited in late May, and it was still a bit chilly, so they had a kotatsu warmed up for me when I arrived. Before going to the bath, the hostess will help you choose a yukata while looking at the size and pattern. The bath has both stone and wood, and although it is an artificial hot spring, my face became shiny and my body immediately felt warm. The bath and water area are very clean. Every corner of the inn is clean and shiny. Both dinner and breakfast are very delicious, and each ingredient is explained in detail. We enjoyed local cuisine such as river fish sashimi, Shinshu premium beef, and wild vegetables. I was surprised to hear that a mother made this by herself.I usually don't eat much and have little interest in food, but I kept eating and saying "delicious and delicious" (lol) The food is made with care and love, and everything is so delicious that I want to eat it all. . It was a large portion, but I was able to finish it all with my husband's help. There is also a massage chair where you can enjoy a 20-minute course in a relaxing room. There were also picture books. The mattress was thick and fluffy, making it feel like a bed.The proprietress had a wealth of knowledge about Togakushi, and during our trip to visit five Togakushi shrines, she told us the best route to take by car, recommended spots, and even made arrangements for us to go to a popular soba restaurant. Ta.The personality and hospitality are wonderful, and I would like to stay at Shiroganeya again to meet the proprietress.

Lovely ryokan in Togakushi. We stayed for 1 night but Maki’s generosity, dedication and attention to detail made it a stay we will never forget. The room was beautifully decorated, it was warm, quiet and comfortable, equipped with everything we needed. The private onsen was perfect for the two of us. The 9 course dinner was prepared by Maki’s mum, it was outstanding and all made with local ingredients. The location is great as you can access the shrines very easily. There is a cat and a small friendly dog called Kenta who made our stay even more perfect. We would come back to Maki’s house without a doubt!

Our stay was exceptional, the experience far exceeded our expectations. First I want to highlight Maki's attention, she was always in all the details. She picked us up at the bus stop, the next day she took us to where the path to the sanctuaries begins, always attentive to our needs. The house itself is a museum and a work of art, every detail is unique. Being able to have private onsen baths was a great surprise, a luxury. The food is a separate issue, the quality and quantity of typical Japanese food that we tried cannot be explained, incredible!! Better than any 5-star hotel (in which we were and could compare). Each dish, each aesthetic and sensory detail, everything thought to perfection and adjusting to each person's tastes. His mother cooks and is a very loving woman. Don't forget to use the massage chair, it was the best we've ever tried, 20 minutes of total relaxation. In short, our experience was the best we had in our entire month-long trip through Japan, Maki is charming and a very special woman
