Stayed in September 2024.The deciding factors were that compared to other inns, it has a smaller capacity, emphasizes tranquility, sells local vegetable dishes, and is not seen on any media other than its website. To access by public transportation, take the Azuma Line from Takasaki to Nakanojo, then transfer to the Kanetsu Kotsu bus and get off at Gongenzawa, which takes about 30 minutes. From Tokyo, there is also a limited express train that runs directly to the Azuma Line. There is also an express bus that takes you directly from Tokyo Station or Haneda. Apparently there is also a set plan that includes accommodation.Gongenzawa is far from the center of the hot springs and is the most downstream area.Since it was a weekday, there was only one other group of guests staying that day. It was practically reserved except for meals. The room was on the second floor, but from the window you could see mostly greenery and the river. Is there a dam just below? Because of this, the sound of water was quite loud. If you are concerned about this, you will not be able to find peace.I'm really happy that they gave me two room keys. It's a ryokan that takes care of that kind of attention to detail.I only used the private open-air bath, but it was clean. Personally, the water temperature is perfect. It wasn't warm or too hot, and I felt like I could soak it in right away. The Shima River is below, and the greenery of the surrounding trees is eye-catching. The water is colorless and transparent, and does not have a strong hot spring feeling. There is no charge for a private room, and you only have to mark your room on the board at the front desk where you want it to go. You can enter as many times as you like if there is space.I was concerned that the ventilation in the changing room was poor and it felt humid, and that the stairs leading down to the bathroom were dark and steep. The heart of this inn is definitely the food. A system that moves you to the dining room at a set time in the morning and evening. There will be no calls, so be careful if you are loose (lol)The cover of the drink menu on the table said "No photography allowed," so I didn't take any pictures at all, thinking it meant I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the food or the scenery, but it probably meant I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the menu. It may have been. I should have been more careful about that.My life doesn't usually involve gourmet food or gourmet food, so I'd like you to read my impressions from that level, but the dinner had quite an impact on me. Is it okay to say that it is Western food with a focus on Japanese food? It was interesting to see how many different ideas were put into it, but rather than focusing on the unique flavors of the ingredients, I felt like I was enjoying changing the taste by changing the sauce and cooking method. I think it has a strong taste. It's a taste that makes alcohol go well.Recommended wines for each menu are written on the board at the restaurant, making it easy to order even for those who are not familiar with the menu. A glass of wine was 450 yen.The quantity of the meal was reasonable, especially the dessert. I could feel the spirit of them taking on various challenges.Dinner was so memorable that I don't remember much about the next morning's meal, but I do remember that there was a huge amount of soup.Calm music was always playing in the lounge area and dining room, and the overall atmosphere was that of an adult inn. I had a relaxing time.

Both the hot springs and the food were excellent, just as the reviews said. This price is too cheap for two people with that taste and this comfort.Personally, I was happy that there were many types of makeup removers.

This is a small inn located at the entrance to Shima Onsen. Unlike the outside, the interior was very nice. It is a long and narrow building as it is located on the bank of a river that flows through a valley in the mountains. It makes good use of the terrain. The hot springs and bathrooms are nice, and you can almost have them all to yourself, so you can relax and enjoy them. Dinner is mainly Western food, which looks good, is voluminous, and I like the aggressive feel. The homemade specialties are also very delicious. Breakfast is Japanese style. It was also delicious. The time I spent looking at the sky full of stars that shined brighter than in the planetarium was also a great memory. I went to the hot springs 4 times lol. It was a great time to cool down my hot body while listening to the music played from the wonderful speakers. This is a highly recommended inn at Shima Onsen that you will want to visit again.

Accommodation for up to 4 groups per night. In order to receive the utmost hospitality, we experienced the luxury of overflowing with hot water in a bathhouse that was reserved for private use.

A very calm and relaxing accommodation for adults. The public space has a nice atmosphere and the food is delicious, but there is a wide selection of alcoholic beverages and the prices are surprisingly low.
