We loved it here. We stayed in a cottage for 6 nights in October. It's very convenient, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. As a base to explore the whole area, it was perfect! The cottage is spacious. The kitchen is pretty well equipped, but, as we've found in Japan, there are no knives and no toaster. There's one electric hot plate and a portable gas burner, and very limited pots and pans. We carry a few essentials of our own. You can hire and buy everything you need for a bbq from the reception. Everything was spotlessly clean. The grounds are beautiful, and we had lovely autumn colours, fog across the fields in the morning, and squirrels!!!In terms of booking, we booked well in advance. It was very quiet during the week but filled up on the weekend. I'd always recommend booking. Based on comments in these reviews, I stayed clear of the reception office (I'm Australian) and my husband, who is Japanese, did all the face-to-face, and he said they were polite and helpful. It's such a lovely place, I'd recommend you take your chances with possible rudeness even if you're not Japanese.

Campsites that are a blessing these days, even free sites require reservations in advance. The administration building has toilets, showers, washing machines, and a common room, so I'm glad that I can use them if something happens. The free site is also cheap at 1,000 yen, which includes only the entrance fee.The tent locations are carved out into the mountain, so you won't have to worry about sleeping on a slanted terrain. You can use a cart instead of being able to drive to the campsite, so you can load your camping gear onto it and move around. It was quite tiring to get to the top of the mountain, but there weren't many people, so you could camp in peace and quiet. You can enjoy it.

I rented a cottage and stayed there. You can see the sunset in the evening and the stars at night. It's Obon, but it's super cheap at 6,000 yen per person per night, and it comes with 2 rooms with a kitchen, which was great! It's a futon so it's thin, but there are blankets and blankets so you can sleep normally. It can't be helped because it's in nature, but there are a lot of insects.May not be recommended for people who don't like insects...Although it was Obon in mid-August, the nights were cold. You can also rent BBQ equipment for 1000 yen and have a BBQ in front of the cottage! There seems to be a limited number of stove rentals, so advance reservations are recommended during busy seasons. There is a supermarket nearby where you can shop. This time I was returning from sightseeing, so it was a little far away, but I bought it at the Western Kawabata store (less than an hour by car). There are multiple seafood stores, and it's like a market, so it was fun to choose.series? It takes about 20 minutes to reach Shiroganeso. It's expensive, but you can get a discount ticket, and the mixed open-air bath has a slide and the starry sky is wonderful, so please give it a try♪August 2024

She said it was only Japanese by appointment only.If the camping site only accepts Japanese people with reservations, please write it clearly on the website. The girl at the counter was very rude and yelled at me after I finished checking in.I was told that reservations were required and only Japanese people were allowed. If the campsite requires reservations and only accepts Japanese people, please clearly state this on the website.

I was looking for a place to stay during the tour, and even though I had made a last-minute reservation on the same day, I was glad that they accepted my reservation and said, ``It's perfectly fine.'' It is helpful if you separate your trash (there are many types) and it will be collected. 1000 yen seems expensive, but I guess it's reasonable since there's a coin laundry, a shop, and you can get discount coupons for the hot springs...
