A great vacation experience, the owner and his wife are very friendly. The room is unique and quiet, and comes with yukata, so you can fully experience the Japanese-style accommodation experience. The bathhouse has a broad view, and the cypress wood bath is very special. It is very relaxing to soak in the bath and enjoy the scenery. The dinner is sumptuous and delicious, using local ingredients and you can taste local specialties. The breakfast the next day is equally amazing, a Japanese breakfast to start the day!The dog in the store is very affectionate and can even play with young children. Even though he is 13 years old, he is still full of energy. The only minor inconvenience is that the location is slightly remote and it is more convenient to drive there by yourself, but it does not detract from the overall good experience of coming here. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

We are from Taiwan, and we visited the son of our grandfather’s teacher during the Japanese colonial period. He is already an 80-year-old native of Taiwan!Take us to a special B&B in the mountains - Kumamoto Heikeso. Here, you won’t hear any familiar language, and you will be completely immersed in enjoying the nature of Japan.Since we are staying on weekdays, the family can enjoy the cypress bath like an open-air hot spring together. There are 15 exquisite mountain dishes for dinner. The fish is freshly caught from the pond in front of the door. The couple at the B&B provide friendly reception and greeting service. It is more comfortable than going home. The wooden corridors connecting the B&Bs are stunning. If you want to experience a traditional Japanese B&B, it is recommended to come to this special place and enjoy the baptism of mountains, forests and nature.

A rare experience It's like going through a time machine and going back in time to the Edo period.||The owner of the house is a descendant of a 48th generation samurai.||Excellent welcome care Including delicious food that we still can't find in Japan.||Love

Second visit to Heikesou. It was my first visit in a while. The food here is great!Dinner contentsDinner is served around the hearth.Aperitif Ikuri sakeAppetizerYamame eggs are smaller than salmon eggs (salmon roe), but perhaps because the skin is a little thicker, they have a chewy texture and are delicious.Tomodan apricot (plum?) Sweet and delicious. It was my favorite flavor.Rock mushrooms are high-quality mushrooms that are cooked in tsukudani. I rarely get to eat it, but it's still delicious!asparagusSashimi Rainbow Trout It was sweet and tasted like fatty salmon.Simmered dishes: bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, fried tofu, konjac, taro. The taste was light, and the bamboo shoots and taro were especially delicious.Grilled Salt-grilled Yamame troutSkewered wild boar and free range chicken. Although it is salt-grilled, there is no smell at all. The alcohol goes on.Deer - Kananban - Grilled venison dressed with sweet and sour vinegar. It was my first time eating it, but it was delicious.Small bowl of nut tofu saladThe tempura - Udohana eggplant, Yuki no Shita, Yamame, and lotus root - were all delicious and went well with the slightly unusual tempura sauce. The soup was a sumashi soup with sliced yamame trout in it. The soup stock was first class. Soba, handmade monkey soba, at a level that you can get by at a soba restaurant. Pretty delicious!Dessert: Homemade blueberry sorbet. It was crunchy, not too sweet, and delicious.Alcohol (kapposake) and red wine I brought in. The kapposake is made from green bamboo that the host cut in the morning, so the extract from it came out and it was great.Yamame trout and kappo sake are made to order.Breakfast contentsCandied yamame troutThis was the best. It's a sansho stew that doesn't have any unpleasant taste.Salad of OkaraIt's probably homemade mayonnaise that's made a little looser, so it's not messy at all. It's moving. The raw eggs are from local chickens and are rich ♪Miso soup is also delicious. The mochi is Isobe-yaki. Why is rice cake grilled over charcoal so delicious? The road from the national highway to Heikesho is narrow, but the others have been widened considerably, making it much easier to drive on.This is my 4th time going to Gokanosho, but compared to the first time, there are more parts that are really easy to ride. There are still some places that are difficult to leave, but it is a hidden gem that everyone should visit at least once.

An unexplored area, like a house in Nan? The quality of the dinner, which is served over an open hearth, is triple-maru. Limited to two groups per day

This place was amazing. The 100-year-old + building was beautiful. The food was fantastic - some of the best I've ever had at an inn. Check out the place's website for pics of the food. You'll get an idea of what the amazing feast is like. The dinning area is a something to experience, too: you eat around a traditional Japanese hearth of sorts. Also the hospitality was great, and the owner speaks English well. I was really surprised by his English ability (considering he is self-taught). Because his English is decent, anyone who can speak English but who doesn't speak Japanese will be able to communicate their needs and questions, and also to be able to talk to the owner about the history of the place and area. The property around the building is very rustic, old, and lived-in. The owners also fish farms on the property.
