I met up with my wife from Osaka and my second daughter who lives in Nagano for a family trip.In addition to the planned tea picking experience and making potato (yam) soup, they were also kind enough to give us information on nearby sightseeing (Kakegawa-juku on the Tokaido route, Jinin Hachimangu Shrine). The host was an extremely fluent guide. When I heard about it, it seemed like his previous job was as a tour operator, so I was satisfied!Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can relax and enjoy the soundless space at night. I had a great time watching online videos on the sofa while enjoying the natural air conditioner by the window on the second floor.Unfortunately, it was cloudy that day, but if it were sunny, you'd be able to see a sky full of stars. The wife is also qualified as a medicinal cook, and in addition to the yam soup experience, tempura made with picked tea leaves, arrangements of white dressing, various simmered local vegetables, Shizuoka oden, and cabbage and okra that are gentle on the stomach. Although I mainly ate cold flower soup and vegetables, I was the most full I've been in years, but I was able to experience the way Japanese people lived in ancient times, where they were definitely hungry the next morning.I was also very satisfied with the sake comparison of Kakegawa's famous sake ``Kaiun''!The next day, the rain in the morning had subsided, and I was able to play at Kakegawa Kachoen, have lunch at the famous "Sawayaka Hamburger Steakhouse", and enjoy a night and two days there! It was a good holiday to recharge my energy. thank you very much!

We came from Germany to experience the tea-growing region near Kakegawa, and Koichi and Kyoko gave us the warmest welcome! Koichi treated us to two full days of immersive tea experiences, offering many fascinating insights. Every day, Kyoko spoiled us with excellent traditional Japanese meals. It was an unforgettable experience!

An exceptional experience in Japan. Kouichi-san personally picked us up from Kakegawa's station. The culinary delights were among the finest I've ever tasted. The enjoyable farm tour and tea leaf picking added to the charm, and Kouichi-san went the extra mile, taking us on a city-wide journey to find the souvenirs we asked for.

I used it with my family. It is easily accessible from the Nagoya area, and I think the elementary school children were able to have valuable experiences that they cannot experience in everyday life, such as picking tea leaves and spending time in an old folk house. The tea and food were delicious, and we were able to enjoy Japanese cuisine unique to a post town.It was a little difficult to use the restroom, but I think you can feel the warmth of the people there, unlike in a large inn.It was a wonderful accommodation where you can cherish your family time.

Already went there for like twice, and going back again on November. Love the house, and the food Mrs. Yamada made. We miss the food so much during the time we cannot travel. Mr Yamada will arrange pick up at the nearest JR station if you go by JR, and please go and stay one night if you are going on rental car!

The husband and wife hosts were friendly, helpful and hospitable. My daughter and I enjoyed the tea farm tour, the tasting at roadside store, the tea leaf picking and tea farm owner chat over delicious Sensha tea. The hosts served delicious multi-course dinner and breakfast. The room was clean and homey. The wi-fi was fast. Overall, we had memorable stay at Tabunoya. You will enjoy it too!.

This time of year is not tea picking seasonSo it’s not easy to find tea picking experience here in Shizuoka. Not many tea gardensOtherwise, it will only take 45 minutes. It's a three-hour trip hereAlthough I didn’t know why it took three hours at first, I still booked it.The boss is a thin, middle-aged man, very polite, and his English is actually pretty good. The small blackboard at the door also has welcome patterns and words written on it.As soon as we entered the door, we were invited to take a seat, and then we were treated to iced green tea, and then we set off to pick tea.The boss's tea garden is up there, and you have to take the boss's van to get there in about 15 minutes. The scenery of the tea garden is nice, but it’s a pity that it’s not the tea-picking season and it’s hot outside. Looking around, we are the only ones there. It will take about 30 minutes to collect. The boss will see that the amount is almost done and will take the customer back to make tea.Making tea is also very simple. Set up an iron pot and place a cassette stove underneath to heat it. Then rub the fresh tea leaves with your hands. While rubbing, use the temperature of the iron pot to dry the tea leaves. It's actually a very simple task, but it takes a lot of time to dry the tea leaves, about an hour and a half, which is actually quite a long time...After making it, the boss will brew the freshly made tea for the guests to drink, and put the rest into ziplock bags for the guests to take home.In fact, the boss is quite talkative and will take the initiative to chat with customers. However, my Japanese and English are too broken and I can’t express what I mean. But I still shared with the boss the differences between tea production in Taiwan and Japan.Accommodation and meals are also provided here. If your friends come to Shizuoka, you may also consider coming to experience tea picking and tea kneading.

Had a wonderful two nights solo stay at Tabinoya with Koichi and Kyoko-san in end Jan!My hosts were warm, kind and helpful, and i enjoyed local activities like grinding my own yamaimo for dinner, tea appreciation at a tea farmer’s house, drive up to Mount Awagatake and strawberry picking.A key highlight for me was Kyoko-san’s cooking! She is evidently passionate about cooking, and each meal was always meticulously and beautifully prepared, and super tasty 🥰It was also a treat to enjoy a nice private hot tub bath in the heart of winter season. If you’re not driving, Tabinoya is a mere 15-20 min car ride from Kakegawa JR station, making the Shizuoka tea plantations easily accessible for foreign tourists like myself.Thank you for the lovely memories and warm hospitality Koichi and Kyoko-san!
