I know it's cold in winter because it's an old folk house. I understand, but you don't have to serve ice-cold water at breakfast. There's no need to do construction work while guests are staying. The glass verandah is visible to construction workers, which is embarrassing, and even though it's a historic building, the service is slow.

My husband and I and friends stayed here in October 2023. A chic Japanese traditional house, every detail of which holds many meanings. Here you can experience not only the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese home, but also enjoy the details of Japanese art (painting, wood relief, calligraphy, a unique jug at the entrance and much more). One of the features of the house is the "rotenburo" (hot spring bath) located on the veranda. (There is also a bathroom in the house)The veranda overlooks the forest. And at night you can see a gorgeous starry sky (there are comfortable chairs where you can sit comfortably and look up).The house has several rooms: in Japanese and European styles. There is also a room equipped for wheelchair users, which I think clearly shows the Japanese mentality of caring for other people.I would also like to note that the house has several toilets, a modern kitchen, a refrigerator, a kettle and other necessary items.Thank you very much Junko-san for your hospitality 🌸🥰

Loved Ebisuya and Kakurinbo! |Ebisuya is an absolutely gorgeous restored merchant house that is part of Kakurinbo. It is down the street from the main temple and lodging and located adjacent to Cafe Zencho.  …

*ENGLISH below*Without a doubt the best accommodation experience I've had. Ever. We didn't really know what to expect and ended up in some form of shock when the accommodation turned out to be a temple of its own.The historic Ebisuya Temple is in a stunning newly renovated condition but has retained the traditional Japanese style. The super nice host Yokah-san took his time and explained the carvings and the careful material choices. The accommodation has everything you could wish for. Two Onsen baths, futon beds, a well-equipped kitchen, washer & dryer... I think I saw at least 5 AC units. If you get up early in the morning, 4:45, you have time to trudge up to the great temple to participate in the mighty morning prayer. An absolute must! This is followed by a delicious breakfast at the Kakurinbo temple hotel, either Japanese or Western style. A simple choice. In the evening, a fantastic meal is served with probably around 20 small dishes with a nice view of the garden. Lots of local produce, mostly vegetarian but also some meat and fish. Recommend getting there with proper hunger (!!).If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city, experience Japanese accommodation & food and be offered absolutely world-class service, you should do nothing but apply to Ebisuya.----‐--------------------------------Without doubt, the best accommodation I have experienced. Ever. We did not know what to expect, and were stunned when we realized that we had an entire temple to ourselves. The historic temple Ebisuya is in a wonderful and newly renovated state and has kept its traditional Japanese style. Two Onsen baths, futon beds, a well equipped kitchen, washing machine & dryer. I think I counted at least 5 AC units...If you rise early enough, at 4:45 am, you will reach the morning prayer in the large Buddhist temple. An absolute must! Afterwards follows a great breakfast at the temple Kakurinbo in either western or Japanese style. An easy choice. An exceptional Japanese dinner is served with a beautiful view of the garden. Probably around 20(!) smaller courses. A lot of local ingredients - mainly plants and vegetarian but also some meat and fish. I recommend arriving very hungry. If you want to escape the crowds of Tokyo, experience Japanese accommodation, food and service in world class - please stay at Ebisuya.

We had the chance to visit this house thanks to the kindness of our host (we were sleeping in the kakirinbo). The place is full of charm and the house is incredibly well decorated with great taste. The furniture and decorations are magnificent. It is an exceptional place which, in itself, is worth the detour in the region.

A VIP-only accommodation. The building is quaint, with gentle sunlight shining in during the day, and a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. There was also a terrace with a large sofa, so it seemed like we could relax and enjoy the view of the mountains.I thought I would like to invite friends from overseas!
