The city hostel is a beautifully restored half-timbered house, right on the old Lahn bridge in Wetzlar. It is located in the historic old town of Wetzlar and is therefore ideal for tourism. The hotel also has its own bicycle garage where you can lock your bicycles. The rooms - like the whole house - have been lovingly restored, but are very small. At least in our room you couldn't get to the bed from both sides. The bathroom was completely sufficient. The breakfast was very tasty, the service was very attentive. The fresh breakfast juice (apple-carrot) was particularly good.

With an interior straight out of the middle ages or a Harry Potter film this hotel is gem! Note the rooms are small but immaculate. It is right on the Lahn so from our room we could hear the river all night burbling past our open window. The owners are wonderful and the location is charming! Bikes have a parking spot in the back but should be locked overnight. Highly recommend.

So much in advance - this review is not neutral. It is not neutral because as a craftsman I may look through slightly different lenses.Room: actually very small.Service: incredibly friendly.Breakfast: small but nice - anything that isn't there is prepared immediately and with pleasure or added to it.Price-performance ratio: absolutely appropriate, literally worth the price. Now to my craftsman glasses. The entire house has been renovated and renovated with such attention to detail that it almost leaves me speechless. You have to have a small (positive) quirk to turn such an old building inside out. I can only recommend that anyone who doesn't have completely two left hands take a look at this. Every skirting board, every panel, every window frame, every piece of furniture and every step had to be painstakingly adjusted by hand. Almost nothing in this building could be purchased at a hardware store. And the crowning glory is the apartment in the basement.I'll add a few pictures of little things that reflect the whole thing well.We will DEFINITELY be back.Kind regards and see you soon!PS: If you complain about small rooms or that the floor creaks, please find out more in advance. From Google Streetview to other reviews to common sense, there is enough evidence to suggest that a 40sqm room with a cast concrete ceiling should not be expected in a building that is several hundred years old.

We booked 3 double rooms directly with the hotel in January. Unfortunately, the booking was neglected to be noted in the system, so after a 70 km bike ride the six of us had to look for somewhere else to stay. The hotel management did not offer us any compensation or help and only “regretted” the incident. We are very upset and disappointed and can therefore only give one star and cannot make a recommendation.

Location great. Rooms are smartly and tastefully furnished. But small. Our double bed was placed against the wall so that one side could only be reached from the front and not from the side. Breakfast okay. However, compared to what is on offer, it is too expensive. Even if you take the surrounding prices into account.

If you want an overpriced medieval stay... go ahead...Room with a master's view: you can empathize with the former servants who, exhausted and tired, dragged themselves up the worn stairs in the evenings, hoping that the steps would hold and not creak. Once they got into the tiny room, they had to figure out who could crawl into the back bed and who could sleep in the front. It should be noted who has to go out early or at night first, as the sleeper at the back may have to climb over the sleeper in front. I don't understand why Ikea furniture was mixed with antique furniture in this historic site.Breakfast: This now costs €15 per person... you have to eat a lot of the limited buffet to get that money. Yes, everything is there, 2 types of sausage and 3 types of cheese, 1 sausage spread and 3 different jams. Add some yogurt for muesli and tiny amounts of dried fruit. Fresh fruit? - No, not for the price. Fresh vegetables? - only if you plunder the set... The only bright spot was the service staff from the Dominican Republic, who really took extremely dedicated care of the guests. From freshly squeezed juice to the egg of your choice, she really tried to fulfill every wish.... and I hope she receives the appropriate reward and is not paid like a maid....All in all....in my opinion, significantly overpriced accommodation compared to other medieval rooms and hotels (we know our way around).Oh well, our room didn't see a cleaning or bed service on all 3 days of our stay... Isn't that standard in a hotel or were the steps up to our cubbyhole too difficult?I don't need to emphasize that we won't be staying here again, but I wish all weary adventurers a lot of fun in this accommodation. You might have better luck with one of the lower rooms.

We ended up here by chance on a bike tour. An exceptionally beautiful little hotel. You feel like you're in another time, almost like you're in an open-air museum. Very nice and personal service and a very tasty breakfast. We will definitely stop by again.

Small boutique hotel with individual rooms. As if made with great attention to detail. However, we didn't like the fact that you could only get into bed from one side. There was only one pillow each and we couldn't sleep well on them.
