Dear Hofgut Schmitte team,keep it up!We first went to Hofgut Schmitte in Giessen. Otherwise we are always in a hotel in Giessen. From now on this will no longer be the case - the Hofgut will be our hotel!I also read the comments beforehand.I just can't understand some of the negative comments/found them that way. Yes, it's a new house and yes, there are still a few things that aren't quite right - but what we found was a very friendly, competent staff.That's what I wanted as a guest and that's what I found.Kind regards and see you soon.

Unfortunately I cannot confirm the positive reviews.We were there with a large group to say goodbye to a colleague.When it came to the organization in advance, many of us felt left out. A la carte is not possible due to the kitchen's lack of capacity. Ok, you have to accept it. The first setback was the fact that in July two hearty Christmas dishes were offered for €36.50 each.What, in my opinion, is not possible at all is that one person has been obliged to pay the total bill for everyone. Reason: A waitress would spend an hour just collecting the money and there is no time for that.It happened as it had to happen: Some people were able to pay individually, but in the end there were large deficits, including three meals that were ordered not to have been eaten. Overall, a very unpleasant experience that will make me avoid this restaurant in the future.I can't say anything about the quality of the food - based on my experiences during the planning, I decided not to eat there.The place is really beautiful, but that alone is not enough

We wanted to try a new local restaurant and were happy to find Hofgut Schmitte. Beautifully restored, excellent food and service. Atmosphere was very welcoming. We will definitely come back, and especially in warm weather to sit outside. ☺️

A fantastic meal in a magical ambience with courteous service. It is a clear recommendation to spend a few wonderful hours! If you don't stop here, you're missing out...! Since we didn't use the hotel, we can't say anything about the rooms. But if they are only half as good as the location and the visual impression of the hotel and the very good restaurant, then the hotel rooms are probably great too!

We were only there to eat and can really say that the cuisine is very good. As a starter we had the goat cheese in phyllo dough, the green sauce with small potatoes and the cheese foam soup. The starters came quickly, warm and were freshly prepared. For the main course we had the roast beef with mashed potatoes, the brioche burger, the Wiener schnitzel and a braised beef. Everything was really delicious. And for dessert we had the milkmaid creme brulee and the hot brownie with sorbet ice cream. Everything was really delicious and you can recommend every dish. In any case, we always enjoy coming back for dinner.
