A year and a half after my first stay, I went to "Gretel" a second time with my girlfriend and was thrilled again. You can tell that a lot has happened (more and new staff) and they are still courteous, friendly and helpful. On our first day, we locked ourselves out of the room and were immediately helped and treated extremely friendly. I can't fully understand the bad reviews about the food, because it is clearly presented and there is a selection of three different main courses always includes a vegetarian menu and before the "first course" there is always a "greetings from the house" as an introduction. You will definitely be full, at the latest after the main course. We booked with breakfast, which is definitely worth it. All dishes were fresh and super tasty. Our favorite waitress served us again for breakfast and was always nearby or regularly asked if there were any other drink requests. The staff themselves also speak German perfectly, perhaps with a bit of an accent, but there was NEVER a problem with communication. There is nothing to add to the sauna area, because it is wonderful. The fitness room is also very nice and equipped with high quality equipment.The wellness offers are varied and worth every cent in terms of quality.We'd love to come back and hopefully next time it'll be a little longer than a weekend :)See you soon!

I don't fully understand some of the negative reviews, although not all of the staff speak perfect German, they are incredibly friendly and helpful and you can communicate without any problems. We felt completely comfortable here. The sauna area is a dream with an incredibly great view. It is within walking distance to the health resort of Rathen and the Bastei. We'd love to come back.

Three nights in a hotel that doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be. If you read the only positive comments below, you wonder whether something has changed in the hotel. The rooms and sauna area are simply great, the location and the breakfast are all perfect. Also ideally located for hiking and cycling tours. But: dinner only a choice between two different four-course menus for 49,-. Food OK, but not for the money and definitely not suitable for a hotel that calls itself an Ayurveda hotel. We sat at the table longer and would have liked to have had something to drink. But no one came, they didn't want to go into the kitchen again, like at breakfast, and ask for someone to come. Yoga in the morning with a "teacher" who didn't introduce himself properly, was greeted, hardly communicated otherwise and after 45 minutes he just walked out in silence, he, like many others in the hotel, could hardly speak German, no problem, but In upscale hotels you can expect a certain level of empathy, friendliness and willingness to serve that is not tied to a language, whether German, English or .... It is simply not enough if you only get to know two hotel employees in four days who meet the requirements described above

Superficially very nice hotel. Far ahead in terms of price, unfortunately in some places “more appearance than reality”…..We spent 10 days there and generally felt comfortable. The hotel is very tastefully designed, the sauna area is spacious, great for relaxing. The glazed front facing Lilienstein in particular makes the hotel something special.Unfortunately, the Ayurvedic character of the hotel was not clear to us. There was a certain selection at breakfast, but with a 10-day stay we would have liked some variety. As a cheese eater, I always look forward to the cheese selection on vacation, but unfortunately I was disappointed. I don't eat packaged rubber cheese at home and especially not on vacation.The selection of bread and rolls was manageable. Sometimes there were a few slices of dark bread, which could be a few days old and dry. Or it was already sold out at 8:30 a.m. and when you asked, you got the answer: “No, unfortunately only what’s still there.”We paid €250 for one night with breakfast, so the vacation wasn't a bargain. We were all the more disappointed that we had to make some compromises, something we had never experienced before.It's a shame, Gretel really had potential!!!

This hotel is really highly recommended 😍 You will be welcomed in a super friendly and courteous manner and your wishes will be taken into account 🙏🏼👌🏼The wellness area is very harmoniously furnished and well maintained. There could be a few more loungers but that was only a problem for a short time. Claudio's massage was intense and very good, I felt renewed afterwards 😊The breakfast is delicious and varied, you also get not-so-everyday treats. And very special tea 👌🏼At breakfast we also noticed an extremely friendly and attentive waiter ➡️ Bettina.The evening menu for the two days was also really delicious! I have never eaten such a fine lamb fillet before 👌🏼So come here and enjoy for yourself 💆🏼♂️

Whoever stayed there did everything right. My husband and I travel a lot but nothing so friendly and nice has ever happened to us. From the explanation to the end I felt comfortable. The food and breakfast were great. And you have absolute peace there.The wellness area is of course the highlight of the whole thing. We will definitely stay there more often when we are in the area.

Great hotel to feel good and relax. The atmosphere is modern, the breakfast buffet offers a good selection and is of high quality. The rooms are well equipped and are very quiet. The wellness area with the two outdoor barrel saunas is an absolute highlight. The view of nature is magnificent. The hotel is in a perfect location for hikes and excursions to the surrounding regions. The staff and the hotel owner are very friendly and warm.

Spontaneously had coffee and cake here on the way home from the bastion. Super nice service team, our dog was immediately given water and was warmly welcomed ☺️ The coffee and cake were tasty, the piece of cake could have been a little bigger 😉 On the roof terrace you have a great view and, above all, you are far away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and have your own Quiet.

Yesterday we had dinner at "Gretel" as out-of-house guests. There is no restaurant officially advertised or advertised, now we know why: for a decent price we got a small, carelessly prepared portion of spaetzle with sliced cream. Since the menu only lists a few dishes, the three of us all ordered the same thing and still had to wait an unreasonably long time. The cream slices with mushrooms were already pre-made because we couldn't order the dish without mushrooms - probably part of a half board menu. All the more disappointing with 4 star superior!! If only this had been garnished a little with a salad bouquet :(Positive: friendly service, peace and quiet and a beautiful view from the terrace. We didn't take advantage of the hotel offer.

The (almost) perfect hotel!! A beautiful, small and quiet place. The hotel is far away from the hustle and bustle, which is great for anyone who loves peace and quiet and wants to enjoy a fantastic view from the terrace and the upper rooms.We were greeted very nicely and taken to our room, which was a pleasant size.The hotel and the furnishings are modern, the employees are very friendly, although the men in service had difficulty dealing with the German language.Fortunately, we were able to turn to Bettina at any time, who has a very warm manner and really went out of her way to take care of every guest.Thanks to Bettina we got a fan because our room was very warm and she always had an ear and wanted every guest to have a good time, you could tell. An absolute win for the hotel.The breakfast was good, the view was wonderful, I found the dinner a bit expensive at 49 euros, but it really filled you up and it was very nicely prepared and delicious.The massages were carried out professionally and there was a lot on offer.My massage in the spa area was carried out by a very nice lady and I felt very comfortable, everything was clean, even when I put my head on the lounger and looked at the floor I saw a small bowl with a flower inside, great!Massages were also carried out by Claudio on the upper floor, which was less comfortable, the floor was dirty and the environment was nowhere near as nice as downstairs in the spa. The fact that you had to sit in a part of the lobby in the "dressing gown" where you were naked underneath so that you could drink the tea afterwards also seemed unpleasant to me. Every guest who walked past could see one. Why not use the lower area?The sauna area is definitely positive. Very clean and inviting.Except for the hole in the glass at the top, which is irritating when you look into the distance from the lounger.Why wasn't it enough for the perfect vacation in the end, for the perfect hotel?The rooms, which were so beautiful and of really high quality, were unfortunately not as well maintained as one would have hoped.When we arrived we noticed that the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly, the small sofa was dusty at the bottom of the black metal struts, and the minibar on top wasn't completely clean either.In the beautiful bathroom, the black-framed toilet holder was unfortunately dusty, as were the sockets and the large, round black mirror on the wall was also covered in dust.The large shower head was calcified and only ran on one side, so we only used the small one, no problem either.A fly screen on the windows would be great, at least on one.We almost always had animals in the room even though we had the lights off.Would we come again?IN ANY CASE !!! If a little more attention is paid to cleanliness, it is the perfect hotel visit.Thanks to the whole team

Really very well maintained and elegant hotel, we had the suite with Bakon and felt very comfortable and welcome. Thanks to the team and the communication as well as the service. Everything was first class. Particularly noteworthy is the attention to detail in the room; all components are of very high quality and exquisite. We were also very satisfied with the cuisine and the wine selection. The audience is very pleasant and the wellness area is beautifully and thoughtfully designed. We will be back!

We are positively surprised!The Gretel is great as a starting point for hikes. Start directly from the hotel. The rooms are tastefully and thoughtfully furnished. The breakfast is of very good quality. Dinner is good. The view is magnificent. Also recommended as a stop during a hike.
