It's a shame that there is no comfortable common room. Otherwise quiet location and nice staff.

The oldest youth hostel in Dresden--- it must be clear to you that in this case this is not a quality feature.Very simple house, just for sleeping and eating.Since we stayed there on a school trip (booked through Herolé), we were disappointed, no leisure activities/rooms for the young people! The staff is nice, the food is good, there are a few beer tent sets outside.Quiet residential/villa area

Super nice hostel. Small, cozy and clean. Rooms are youth hostel style but very comfortable. Rooms and accommodation were clean. The staff was very friendly and always helpful with questions. Centrally located. Bus and train connection just under 200m.I'd love to come back when I'm in town

The building is old and urgently needs renovation. The rooms are quite small and there are almost only three-bed rooms. The sanitary facilities are mostly only available as a shared bathroom and shower and are tiny (I'm almost 2 meters tall and therefore can't/hardly fit into the shower)!

Yes, it is an OLD Art Nouveau villa and NOT a more modern hotel like some other youth hostels. We still really liked it. The team at the youth hostel (which, as I learned, does not receive any subsidies and only has to finance itself from the payments of its guests) was really, really nice. My sons and I enjoyed breakfast and dinner (we were lucky that they cooked every evening as the house was very busy) and vegetarians were catered for. Food waste was avoided through good planning. The house is located in a residential area that was not destroyed by the war and gives an impression of what Dresden looked like before the war (probably built by a sewing machine manufacturer around 1900). It has probably been a youth hostel since the 1950s. You can get to the city in just a few minutes with the tram that runs around the corner and in just over 30 minutes from the main station with the S-Bahn in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains). In our family room there was a shower and toilet in the room, for the group rooms these are in the hallway (but as I said, it's just not a modern hotel). The charm of the old villa and the extremely friendly team at the youth hostel more than compensated for the lack of luxury. We would definitely come back.
