I booked this hotel as a stopover Italy - Belgium. After a drive of more than 8 hours I find a hotel room full of insects. But really full. I try to contact them via text message, whatsapp, email, chat via booking site. No reaction. Phone number didn't work. (Apparently there is an emergency telephone, I hadn't seen that). I requested a new room or bug spray. Only after 3 o'clock (now like midnight) did I receive a response that I could get a new room. I had already killed more than 30 animals with toilet paper and just wanted to go to sleep. Unfortunately, I didn't get much sleep when I found a cockroach just before I went to sleep. The manager says that it is not a house cockroach but a different species that does not matter much, the animal could not be killed, which is typical for a cockroach, and I had to flush it. No recognition there either. I did not accept the new room's proposal because they could not give me a guarantee that the new room would not have any insects or cockroaches and I did not want to spend another 2 hours killing insects. In addition, the shower hose was also broken. I did not receive more than an apology, no compensation was offered. They say I should have called (which didn't work) and the number in the room is only manned until 5 p.m., which is not indicated anywhere. They just wave this away. How can they charge me 55 euros for such an experience?! The drive back to Belgium was downright dangerous due to this poor night's sleep. I also have a 'beautiful' souvenir from it: my body is full of flea bites. Don't book this hotel unless you like insects :-)Update on their response: they are lying. They did not offer a cleaning service. Only a new room after midnight, which I indeed refused at that time because they could not guarantee me that there would be no insects/cockroaches there. I didn't feel like killing bugs again. The fact that I didn't see that phone is completely my fault, but it should not be an excuse, it does NOT say ANYWHERE that the numbers listed on booking and on a card in the room are not available 24/7. I have also added the email I sent that they deny as a photo so you can see that they are lying. The marketing comment also needs context: she sent that the owner decided not to refund me because I had already posted a review, they had no benefit whatsoever from doing so. I said that I think that is poor management, that Google is not the only place where reviews can be posted and that I certainly will not resist continuing to share this experience. It's a shame that they see that as something that scares them, while it was a well-intentioned marketing tip that such unresolved experiences can be quite harmful to their company. She indicated that she did not speak native English, so probably my intention did not come across well. It's not even about those 55 euros, it's about injustice, recognition, empathy. I slept for 2 hours, had a broken shower and a body full of flea bites. I actually know the difference between flea bites and mosquito bites. The insects were not mosquitoes but mayflies according to Google. I wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible, that's why I left the shower and didn't walk to the phone half naked.Fortunately, the lady from booking was very understanding that something like this is not possible, the insects are not (which points to the lack of hygiene) and the facilities are not working. That's all I ever wanted: recognition, understanding, not to wave it away and pretend that everything is my fault and I'm exaggerating and that I should have seen the phone. The only question left is whether you want to rent from such people. I will also close this topic with this, after dozens of messages it is not worth the energy and I think it is clear that they are lying and unjust.

The room with bathroom 102 was spotlessly clean. Towels were available in sufficient quantities.Check-in was a disaster because the machine didn't work. Only after an emergency phone call did an employee arrive a few minutes later and issue a room card manually. The noises from the room refrigerator were annoying at night, so we pulled the plug.Except for two glasses, there were no cutlery or cups available (self-catering???)The verbal information and the information on the website that there is a bakery in town just around the corner for breakfast is no longer true, as the bakery has been closed for a few weeks due to illness. ALDI at the exit of the town made us think about it :-(((.Unfortunately, the town of Kampfelbach is no longer part of the Karlsruhe public transport area, so the S-Bahn connection to Karlsruhe and Pforzheim was not particularly practical. Maybe a D card makes sense then. There is no personal atmosphere, so the hotel is a "pure" place to sleep without any special comfort. Kampfelbach is just not a holiday resort!

Hmmm.... I think this is a general comment of the Hotel Pension in Kämpfelbach. I normally stay in the Hotel Phoenix in Pfinztal, but they were full this week. The Phoenix makes the Pension look like a 4 star hotel. Although true the Phoenix also doesn't have a permanent reception desk, at least it is open during the day. The Pension, there's no manned Reception all week, except at weekends. There is no elevator. So if you have mobility problems, you must get a room on the ground floor. The rooms are clean large, but very empty, the furnishings standards are basic, there's just 1 picture on the walls, fridge (the outer door has dropped), no coffee machine, ensuite bathroom (clean but no decoration, no water glasses, no shower gel) double bed, wardrobe, tiny desk, small tv (mounted above the desk, not a good place), but in a huge room everything feels too small. Chairs and table would have been helpful. The biggest selling point of not having a breakfast room is the amazing Bakery 3 minutes walk away, but.....it's shut permanently (the owner was too ill to open ever again). There's no other bakery in any of the rest of the village or the village to the north or the south.I would have given the Hotel Pension 3 stars, except for a few things, my reservation code was wrong, though thankfully the person at the other end ofthe telephone was helpful. Then they asked for payment, but payment had already been taken. Restarted the login process. Forced to input personal & address details, but address details had already been provided, but the system had apparently forgotten them. The "seemless registration process" was anything but. My verdict is that I hope not to have to use this place again, it's okay at a pinch, but only just.I am not really looking forward to my cold Aldi breakfast tomorrow morning....

The guesthouse is completely automated at check-in and check-out. Registration and key card issuing worked well. Personally, I still think a face to an inn is good. But there wasn't a lack of contact options - it was just unusual for me personally. The bathroom in the room was a bit old. The room and beds were clean.
