Every once in a while somebody has big dreams and perhaps not a big enough budget. The Traumhotel is the result of one of these. It is fun, crazy, amazing, inspiring and wildly creative. It's also impossible to describe. The hotel is a sprawling maze where every room is different. There are indoor & outdoor restaurants and bars. Everywhere you look is some crazy art piece, with the biggest a half-finished giant smiling head that is apparently going to be another hotel room.Sure, the place is a little run down. With no air conditioning you have to leave your windows open, but noise from the entertainment spaces can continue until 3 am (!!!). It's run by great people, inexpensive, and in an excellent neighborhood, though, so at the very least commit to a night to give yourself time to look around.

Quirky but cosy place. The rooms could do with more amenities though and some parts of it seem a little run-down. However, the Biergarten makes up for it with good beer and food.

Really quite unbelievable that this was ever build... looks like a fairytale building with towers and quirky designs all over. Restaurant as well is quite nice, and the bar is in several floors with a slide connection the two. Go for the experience ;-)

We were looking forward to a romantic evening and an exciting night. Even the booking leaves open which room you actually get. A few rooms are described and it all reads so wonderfully... But far from it. We drove into the parking garage and I immediately thought how narrow and confusing it was. We found the parking space. Now we found the entrance to the hotel. The staff at the reception were OK, we took the key and then had to go through a courtyard another building. When I saw this poem from the website I was shocked, the paint is peeling and the courtyard, the plants and the cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. I opened the room and was met with a strange smell and disappointment immediately set in. One wall was in a kind of balcony painted in the Greek style with clouds and that was it, the themed room was a disgrace. We first opened the balcony and then looked out onto a tattered inner courtyard. Violent as you can see in the pictures. Romance was gone. If you don't have a few euros for a little new paint, it's best to leave it alone. The whole hotel is a disaster. And AAAA is probably totally ridiculous. For 117€ we would have gotten a beautiful room in another hotel. My recommendation is to look for another hotel here, every euro is worth. Unfortunately I can't upload any photos here, but I'll do it later

I was honestly horrified that there are still hotel rooms with furniture from the 1980s here in Germany. With a corresponding musty smell, which was masked by various scent sprays. In addition, the guest garden is completely shabby, there are construction machines and materials everywhere, some of which have grown over. The underground car park is dilapidated, narrow, confusing and dilapidated. The breakfast buffet was very lavish but not particularly high quality, my roll felt like it was 2 days old. All in all, I was completely horrified by the structural disrepair of this hotel. Never again!

We found the idea of the themed rooms funny and special - so we booked "Africa" for a pampering weekend in Karlsruhe. …

Unfortunately I can't give as many stars as I hoped. When I booked I was really impressed by the photos online, but what I saw in person quickly brought me back to reality.Sure it used to be a great hotel but that was a long time ago. It is very old. Total renovation backlog and with this size it's understandable because you don't know where to start.Unfortunately, it also has a rather unpleasant smell. A pair of scented sticks in the hallway would help.Bed clean and completely ok.Many tiles in the bathroom were broken. Unfortunately the bathtub was also broken. But everything is clean. All in all, I think it's too expensive for the price. The brewery was well filled 👍🏻🍀Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast for 15€ plus is a little too expensive. But it's all there. Rolls, bread, muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit. Everything you want in the early morning.

We've been there for the second time, had a nice themed room, although a lot of work needs to be done to the rooms, they're still cozy, nice and clean, everything is a bit winding but interesting. There's an elevator and you can get straight to the brewery without any problems. The staff is Nice, friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is rich for an additional charge of €15. The room price is reasonable. We would definitely like to come back. Maintaining a hotel like this is expensive. All in all, it's always a pleasure to stay overnight
