The reason for 3 stars is because we have not chosen to pay more money for a bigger room, small but ok room, with a nice little bathroom. Good service, nice staff, clean, good breakfast, parking, all in all a nice little hotel, close to the center. We have stayed here several times and will choose it again.

Cute little hotel with small but nice rooms (ours was on the 2nd floor). Parking directly at the house. Ideal location for exploring Schwerin and the surrounding area.Super nice staff. Lovingly designed breakfast, everything is right on your table at the desired breakfast time, which means there is a much more relaxed calm in the breakfast room (certainly created in Corona times...it's great that it was retained)Gladly again

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and felt very comfortable. The very clean room with a garden view was quiet and had a fridge in the small hallway. It would be nice to have a small safe in the room. The breakfast was good and sufficient, but the light baked rolls could be replaced with better ones. Maybe it would be better to offer bakery rolls. We can definitely recommend the hotel. The staff is super friendly.

It was the shortest getaway of our lives. We were really happy and were so very disappointed. The Hotel Nordlicht can at best be described as a guesthouse. From the outside it makes a nice impression. The location of the house is also perfect for a city tour. It is relatively quiet (despite the cobblestones) on a side street. The castle and city center can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. You have to ring the bell to be admitted. The first little shock comes when you look behind the entrance door. Super narrow, steep stairs, of course no elevator. But no matter, we were warmly welcomed by a member of staff.“Tasteful” and “cozy” are advertised on the website. Our room on the 2nd floor was just depressing. If this is supposed to be a comfort room, you don't want to see the classic room. Carelessly thrown together furniture, uncomfortable lounge chairs, a bed with a greasy headboard, polyester bed linen, multiple plugs in the corners, worn doors, no safe, no desk. We imagine “tastefully” furnished rooms differently. How pictures can be deceiving. The bathroom was very spacious, with a shower and bathtub. The only thing that is comfortable is the breakfast room. The breakfast is very rich. Unfortunately there is no buffet, but sausage, cheese, fruit and yoghurt are offered ready-made, along with a cold soft egg and baked rolls. A big waste. Here you should have asked what was desired. For example, we are among those who don't eat sausage. However, there was plenty of it on the plate and had to be thrown away after it was cleared away. The on-site parking lot for 8 cars is more than challenging because of its narrowness. We could have lived with all of that (Schwerin is beautiful), but the crowning glory was the unprofessional reaction of the owner when we pointed out that we didn't have a stable internet connection on the 2nd floor (according to the description, Wi-Fi was part of the room's facilities). This was urgently needed for professional reasons, so we pointed out that we might have to leave if a stable network could not be established. We learned that “it must be due to our devices” (which can easily be connected to open Wi-Fi elsewhere) and further that she “doesn’t feel like discussing the Internet with us now”. However, the lady completely disqualified herself with the sentence: “Then you just have to leave today”. You don't need to be told twice. It's sad, unfortunately we don't remember Schwerin fondly.

Decent hotel in a good location. The room is spacious, but somewhat carelessly furnished (plastic flowers). The pillows were uncomfortable for our taste. Woke up in the morning to traffic (cobblestones in front of the window). All in all, not bad, but not particularly recommended.
