Hotel zur Panke

The hotel is located right next to an S-Bahn station, which is very convenient. Our room was quite large and clean. The employees in the hotel and the owner are very friendly and always talked to us a bit, which is just very nice for such a smaller hotel and doesn't convey that big city anonymity that you expect in and around Berlin. The breakfast is also good, the table is set and the breakfast is then served and coffee and tea are offered. We found that more relaxing than constantly standing at a buffet. The locks work with numeric codes, which was a positive thing for us because it means you can get into the hotel room at any time of the day or night. In our opinion, the construction site in the restaurant wasn't a real problem because it didn't bother us. We were more than happy with everything!

When we arrived on site, we discovered that the entire hotel was under renovation - we were not informed of this when we booked via Booking.There was no reception, the restaurant side was also closed and therefore no contact nearby for check-in. When we asked, we received the door code for our room from the owner via telephone.The furnishings in the rooms are solid, although very outdated (furniture from the early 90s). Payment was only possible in cash.No problem for one night, but for a longer stay I would change or wait and see what the renovation work brings.

Currently closed due to extensive construction work, I don't know the opening dateThe restaurant is very easy to reach by S-Bahn or car. There are also some parking spaces in front of the door. It is rustic, but tidy and cozy. Like the last few years, we were there on December 25th. We went there for goose dinner and as always it tasted very good. The portions were completely sufficient and the goose leg and goose breast were cooked to perfection. Price-performance ratio is completely fine. The staff was (as) always friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for food and drinks. As the number of visitors increases, the waiting time can of course lengthen, especially for the goose meal, but that's completely okay. Quality takes precedence over quantity and I personally wouldn't have a problem with a slightly longer waiting time. However, you should make a reservation, especially on holidays and weekends, but this is the case almost everywhere and the kitchen can be better prepared, especially for larger groups. In any case, I/we really liked it and we would love to come back, at the latest for Christmas.

I had booked a night in this “hotel” at short notice. The room was only needed for one night as we were invited to a wedding nearby.Due to renovation work, we checked in at the construction site and the owner welcomed us into a provisionally furnished office. After the first short inspection of the room, a slight shock, you can only walk on the carpet with shoes on, totally dirty and stained but still manageable for one night. Since we didn't have time, we just dropped off our things and drove to the party.Back to the hotel around 3 a.m. Entrance to the backyard, past containers. Narrow path between the container and the wall of the house, about 60cm wide and unfortunately not lit.Arrived in front of the room, big problem getting into the room because there are no keys and the pin keyboard is stuck. Arrived in the room and after a closer inspection it was a big shock! Mold and mildew on the ceiling and around the windows. Strong mold growth in the shower, tiles above the sink still dirty with toothpaste and soap. Overall impression of the room was very bad. Furniture is very worn.The worst thing in this room, however, was the bathroom floor. The floor is broken right in front of the sink and several tiles are broken and lying on the floor. As I approached, a tile jumped out, RISK OF INJURY!!!We finally had enough and arrived straight away. That night I texted the owner and pointed out the Mengel. The next morning I called him and asked for my money back. The owners were known to Mengel and were understanding. However, he didn't want to refund me the entire amount because the reason he said was that he couldn't rent the room because of us. He refunded half of the amount after a week and repeated requests.The room cost €85 for one night.

It's not a hotel. At most these are craftsmen's apartments. Everything smells of nicotine and the furnishings are so bland and tasteless that you have to assume intent. The shower joints have mold, the shower head holder is broken and the TV satellite appears to be aimed at Turkey. The situation on the tracks is extremely loud - even at night. Access to the “hotel” is via an unsecured construction site. The 50 cm wide path eventually leads past a container to the disappointing backyard. This accommodation benefits from its proximity to Berlin... That may correspond to the one star you have to give.

Even one star is too much. We entered the restaurant on Friday evening, there were just two people there and the man on duty was one of them, sitting and drinking at the table, he was really unhappy that he had to get up and talk to us.. not to mention „Corona distance“ but a private space itself, the man came so close stinking like liquor without wearing a mask, asking us what we want. We wanted to reserve a table for birthday celebration as well as a bowling lane for the next day, to which he said that we won’t celebrate there anything because he is celebrating something there and didn’t even seem interested in showing the bowling lane or menu in general (not just for the next day celebration but for the future visits). Just disgusting behavior. I honestly feel bad for the owner of this place.
