A wonderful place to unwind. There are hidden rooms and corners everywhere where you can retreat. Some of the furniture is from Vitra, great interior.Positive:- Nice apartments with enough space.- fantastic location- you can collect great porcini mushrooms- Design & ambience- great spa area- spacious saunaNegative:- the double beds creak miserably. We had to separate at night so that our baby could sleep in a bed that didn't creak.- unfortunately the sauna has extremely short opening times. (12:00-17:00/12:00-20:00)Unfortunately very impractical with children.- you always have to ask whether the sauna will be turned on for you. Sometimes it works well, sometimes you wait 20 minutes in vain. Unfortunately, the automatic infusion never worked for us.Despite these few annoying points, it motivated us to stay one night longer. :)

Attention: One night for €695.00. Child got sick - no goodwill.I, a single mother of two girls, wanted to spend three wonderful days at the St Oberholz Retreat. My little daughter had a severe earache on the evening of arrival. A plus point was the friendly kitchen staff who, when I asked, gave me two onions for the acute treatment. The night was short, there were a lot of tears and it was clear to me that we had to go home so that I could properly care for my daughter. When I asked if we could cancel our stay and make up the two missing nights at a later date, I was told: "No, that's not possible. You chose the non-refundable rate, now we can't refund anything." I said I didn't want any money back, I wanted to postpone it, we wanted to have three nice days there, but that's not possible with a sick child. Nevertheless, they insisted that it couldn't be done because I had booked it that way. The joke is that I asked in advance whether we could postpone our stay, which was answered in the affirmative. When I brought this up, the answer came that we were there now and it couldn't be postponed anymore. Aha. I don't see any logical argument. I thought that the team there was family-friendly, as I had anticipated from the prior communication. Unfortunately, no accommodation is possible. In the end we were given a waiver of breakfast for the next two mornings that we couldn't be there and after this "nice" offer I was asked if I still wanted to cancel! I looked at the lady and thought she was making fun of me . My child is sick!! In order to get some of the money I invested, should I stay there and let the child continue to suffer? All I had left was to say that I was also sorry for the receptionist, since she couldn't decide and the consultation with the so-called "director" (appropriate for the circus) had resulted in nothing but a breakfast decree. However, given my predicament that my child was sick and I HAD to leave, I was not given the opportunity to make up for my stay at a later date. I find it blatantly wrong. Unfortunately, it is not enough to offer a beautifully designed place if the constructive attitude is missing. This alienates customers who would have liked to bring their money regularly. But maybe the retreat doesn't need to build long-term connections.I remember the kitchen ladies positively. They seem to have their hearts in the right place. On the way home I was in tears. Out of anger at the owner's non-social and family-emergency attitude and out of sadness over the €695.00 for a single night's stay - that's how much we pay for a whole month's rent in Berlin. A bitter disappointment. Gladly never again.Addendum:After my daughter became increasingly ill after our early return, she was diagnosed in hospital and given sick leave for a week. Sure, you're happy to pay for 2 more nights for St. Oberholz without being there. Everything for the place where you can't be sick.

The positive:- Nice, quiet surroundings and nice little lake- Stylish furnishings- Small but nice breakfast- Spacious saunaThe negative:- Bathrooms do not correspond to the price range (broken shower head, unsightly stains in the toilet)- Poor, pseudo-upscale cuisine in the evening with exorbitant prices- Very warm rooms in summer without air conditioning and no mosquito net for relaxed ventilation in the evening without having to turn off all the lights- Overall very small spa area (where do they stack people in the winter when you can't get out?)- Overall, the price-performance ratio is simply not right here

Fantastic place to find peace but also very inspiring and really promotes creativity. We stayed there for 2 nights for an offsite and it couldn't have been better. The atmosphere is pleasant all around, the lake is a dream and the location is fantastic. It's nice that this place exists, we'll definitely come back!

5 out of 5 stars in every way. Super idyllic location, super friendly & attentive team, great breakfast, great ambience. And no: I definitely don't always think everything is great in hotels. :-) We are looking forward to the next time!

We spent our company offsite with 25 colleagues in the Woldzegarten and were thrilled on all levels. We had a fantastic time and are incredibly grateful to the St Oberholz team - booked straight away for our offsite 2025.

The St. Oberholz has now impressed us in its entirety for the second time. Beautiful interior, very accommodating, uncomplicated and nice staff, great and clean rooms, very well-kept pool area, super nice and quiet outdoor area with proximity to the beautiful swimming lake within walking distance. Simply a great place that we would love to come back to at any time!

Price performance doesn't match at all unfortunately.Unfortunately, the only positive thing was the idyllic location and the staff in the evening.Negative (and all this taking into account room prices over €200/night):No reception from employees, you had to ask your way to the kitchen when you arrived in the afternoon.Despite the spa area, no change of towels and no room cleaning.Showers are getting old.Quality of the beds poor.Staff completely overwhelmed at breakfast. No TV in the room or anywhere else. With the exception of the bread, the quality of the food is not adequate. No signs at the buffet. The staff doesn't fit the concept at all. You get the feeling that the owners haven't been there for years and the employees are doing their own thing.Wouldn't recommend it. Definitely not at this price.
