We celebrated our free wedding on September 23, 2023 with a subsequent wedding celebration and overnight stay including breakfast in the Hecklingen City Palace. The arrangement and organization of the celebration went smoothly by phone and/or email. So we coordinated the number of guests (which can be corrected a week before the celebration), decorations and much more and created a schedule.I can highly recommend working with the flower shop in Hecklingen (Nancy's flower shop) for celebrations, as the flower decorations can then be brought directly from the flower shop to the castle. The wedding celebration:Our free wedding ceremony started at 2 p.m. in the hall of the Hecklingen City Palace. The only “problem” that could be resolved in advance was that a microphone could not be connected to the in-house system. Our DJ then brought his own small system and played music. After the wedding was over, we went downstairs for coffee and cake, as the hall on the upper floor had to be converted for the subsequent celebration. To be honest, I missed the comfort while drinking coffee because the tables weren't decorated and unfortunately there wasn't any music playing. The number of pieces of cake was also quite limited - I honestly didn't count. When the hall on the upper floor was remodeled, we went upstairs with the guests and the first drinks were included there. The cold drinks that were ordered with coffee and cake were charged separately. When we arrived at the top of the hall, we sat with the guests at round tables with 10 seats each. There were around 50 guests spread over 5 tables and there shouldn't have been more guests. The dance floor was pleasant and sufficient and the DJ also had enough space for his system.Table decorations, party favors and seating cards were distributed exactly as agreed. Tea lights and glasses for the tea lights were provided by the castle. The waiters were very friendly and always tried to fulfill our wishes. However, in our opinion, the staff was limited because: At the evening buffet, the bowls were relatively small, which is why the containers with the meat were emptied quickly. It then took a while until the containers were refilled. Of course, that's not a problem in itself, but on such an "important" day you don't want to see your guests leaving the buffet with dry potatoes and mixed vegetables.Unfortunately, when the tea lights burned down, they were not replaced because (I think) there was no time for that. I would also like to emphasize again: The staff present gave their all, this criticism is aimed more at the organization. The rooms:All rooms and the castle were blocked from all outsiders on the day of our wedding, so that all rooms were available to us. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and what was a huge plus for us: dogs are allowed. We slept really well and only have positive criticism for the rooms.Breakfast:We had breakfast together at 9:00 am. The breakfast buffet was very varied and ranged from rolls (light/dark), croissants, jam, nut nougat cream, orange juice, coffee, cocoa to cornflakes, fruit salad, cake and scrambled eggs. The tables were set and there were tea lights on them, but unfortunately these were not lit. I would have liked a little background music here too.We checked out at 10:00 a.m., loaded up the wedding presents and then drove home with a full stomach and the leftovers from the buffet from the night before. Conclusion:All in all, it was a very nice celebration that we will remember fondly. There are only a few small things that could be improved, but as already mentioned, we suspect that the shortage of staff is responsible for this. Many thanks to all employees of the Hecklingen City Palace!!!
