The ambience fits in very well with the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rooms have atmosphere, are very well maintained and the service and food are very good. I would deduct half a star because unfortunately no drinks were provided in the room. If you have to take tablets in the evening or get thirsty at night, it is advisable to have a small water bottle with you.

The hotel is located on the Zollverein mine site and its entire concept and furnishings refer to the world of miners. The “buddy rooms” are furnished in white, gray and black. One wall has a photo wallpaper with an underground motif; There is also a photo portrait of a real friend with his CV hanging there. The bathroom is tiled black and painted dark (it has a great rain shower that provides instant hot water). The room lighting is based on miner's lamps. On the ground floor, the corridor to the toilets is lavishly decorated with photos and objects related to the mining theme. The toilets themselves are modeled after Chewing with baskets for clothes hanging on chains from the ceiling and so on - you can't list all the many little loving details. For breakfast there was a rich buffet that left nothing to be desired - both in terms of freshness, abundance and constant care from the staff. In general, the entire staff is extremely attentive and friendly. My friends and I felt very comfortable. The price/performance ratio is more than reasonable!

A beautiful and authentically designed place with a friendly atmosphere! I was a guest for a two-day workshop and was completely impressed by the first-class service. The food was delicious and the range of drinks varied. I was particularly impressed by the motivation and friendliness of the entire team - truly extraordinary!I particularly remember two experiences: Firstly, I accidentally left part of my charger in the conference room. It was sent to my home without any complications within a very short time - a really great service that shows how important the well-being of the guests is here.On the other hand, we experienced a special situation at lunch: the starter buffet was already set up, but the warm dishes were still waiting. The manager in charge came to us personally, proactively explained the delay and assured us that it would only take a few minutes. This openness and transparency is exactly the kind of customer service you want everywhere. A big compliment! An all-round successful stay – I would love to come back!

We had a very nice stay in this lovingly designed hotel. Great location at the Zollverein mine. It's quiet there at night and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms are very nicely decorated with many original details. The breakfast was very tasty and the staff was courteous. We would be happy to come back and can recommend this hotel. 😊

Room underground! Instead of the pre-booked and prepaid buddy's room, we received a supposedly themed room with only white walls, a broken bathroom door, the hook for hanging towels was dangling from the door, and for two people there was only a single hand towel and a normal towel. No options for hanging jackets. The whole thing was less than spartan. Positive were two armchairs, television in the evening for information from the day with a channel selection that can only be described as embarrassing. The great staff and location cannot make up for the desolate overall impression. Of 22 hotel visits this year, in the end only the relegation place to the fifth league remains, especially since the price doesn't make a new visit worthwhile. Overall verdict: not recommended!Or: Maybe we were just unlucky - but €300 for two nights was gone. What remains is frustration! - Room 303!

Perfect and an absolute recommendation.Ideal for a (even extended) weekend stay in Essen and the surrounding area. Very nice, well-kept and tastefully individually furnished rooms and hotel. The peace and quiet, good beds, sufficiently long duvets and pillows ensure a relaxed and good night's sleep. The staff is extremely friendly. The location to the Zollverein mine is ideal. There is actually only one small thing missing, namely storage and storage space for clothing and towels. That shouldn't stop anyone from staying here.Oh yes - breakfast is of course great too.
