Hotel Zum Bürgergarten - Stolberg im Harz

Beds are very comfortable, the light in the bathroom is barely enough for shaving because most of the LEDs do not shine towards the face but towards the room. Eyeliner and lipstick difficult in the semi-darkness. Because of the kitchen, please don't take a detour to the restaurant: There was pike-perch fillet with a salad made from canned vegetables - apparently the red color prevails in the kitchen

Well located hotel, very clean rooms, mattresses very good, but it ends promptly at 11 p.m. No problem with that at all, but it could have been said a little nicer. It's a shame that it turned out that way, because we felt very comfortable

A beautiful accommodation, the service is great, the food is a pleasure with everything you could wish for. Can only be recommended.

We spent one night here and are unfortunately disappointed. The positive first: very nice reception (lady with glasses and short, gray hair), nice check-out (probably the hotel owner), large and cheap parking lot and good WiFi.The restaurant is only open from 5:30 p.m. and closes early. Food is only available for hotel guests, which wasn't a problem for us. But the staff in the restaurant is terrible! Especially a lady with dark hair. When we came in, we were initially ignored (by both employees; one young and blonde, long hair and another lady with dark hair). So we (!!) greeted the staff and got the answer: "Hotel guests?" Surprised, we answered this question in the affirmative. This was followed by: "Room number?" We almost had to laugh, but then also said the number and allowed ourselves to ask a counter question. .why the number is important....simply out of interest. The quick question was why we were asking.... In hindsight, this situation seems pretty bizarre. So we got a table. Of the three dishes we wanted, two were not available The waitresses got upset in front of us about the chef and the fact that the ingredients had probably not been ordered. We found this behavior to be very questionable and not particularly service-oriented. Another guest had his beer spilled down his pants (it can happen sometimes , of course), other guests were probably in the way of the good lady (dark-haired). She also expressed this loudly. All in all, an unpleasant atmosphere. The food was only mediocre; the cola was unfortunately stale, lukewarm.The apartment was spacious and was located in the guest house. The furnishings were unfortunately outdated, but it was clean. Unfortunately, the whole building smelled musty, damp and unpleasant. Maybe OK for one night in transit, but we would have loved to leave straight away in the evening. Stolberg itself is very sleepy, but historically interesting, even if it seems deserted. You can get to the old town quite quickly on foot. Unfortunately, the breakfast was also rather mediocre and unloving. We couldn't find any coffee and so we had to ask the lady (yes, the one from the night before :-)) and got another rude answer (Coffee? Do I have to make it first). The tone is just not friendly. A small glimmer of hope was a nice lady at breakfast who was really friendly.We checked out very early. The gentleman there was very friendly.We wouldn't choose the hotel again because of the unfriendliness in the restaurant and the apartment in the adjacent building (not the half-timbered house, it's very cozy!) didn't meet our expectations; nor did the food and breakfast.

Stopover on the home route in the Harz with a motorbike, as the snack bar at Netzkater had already closed at 4:20 p.m. Cream puffs + coffee were ok. You can sit quite comfortably on the terrace as long as there is still sun.

Nicely finished half-timbered building, parking on the other side of the road.
