Pretty small town in Hesse, great hotel in a historic building that has been excellently renovated. Is good for hikes in the Werra Valley and trips to the Wartburg, Mühlhausen old town, etc. Totally nice staff and great cook!

We stayed at the Schwan one night from Sunday to Monday to attend a family celebration in Wanfried. We all met for the evening get-together in the restaurant, where we ordered plenty of food and drinks. The food was OK. However, I suspect that because of the large selection of dishes on offerConvinience products are used. Unfortunately, the waitress seemed a bit tired and overwhelmed with the large group, and occasionally pointed out certain things in a harsh tone, such as whether they could finally clear the plates. The rooms are clean and nicely and modernly decorated. However, the bathroom toilet seat in our room number 6 has already been used for several days, which can be seen in the amount of brown stone in the seat and the yellowed plastic lid.

Everything was wonderful and we particularly liked the very warm, personal welcome from the hotel owner. We were allowed to park our motorcycles directly in front of the hotel.The hotel is located in an old half-timbered house in the middle of the small town of Wanfried near Eschwege. It's right on the main street. It was nice and quiet at night and we were able to sleep well, but the street was a bit noisy in the morning. But everything is still within limits.We also got a meal recommendation for the evening 👍 which was very tasty (harbour restaurant “zur Schlagd”).The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Beds also very good.The breakfast for €16 was worth it. It was very tasty, wide selection and lots of regional products. No wishes left unfulfilled.We would love to come back!!

We booked the suite and were very positively impressed.A great accommodation with a tasteful ambience in a picturesque location.The breakfast also left nothing to be desired. Rich and regional. For example, there was delicious “Ahle Sausage”.We were definitely not here for the last time.

I stayed at the Schwan for three nights because of an event in the Altes Schmirgelwerk. The suite is very large and tastefully and practically furnished. Parking spaces are plentiful in the adjacent streets and are free. Breakfast buffet is very good, scrambled or fried eggs can also be served upon request.I treated myself to the rump steak one evening in the restaurant, very good meat and perfectly prepared. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely book here again 👍😊

Our holiday over Easter was a thoroughly successful stay.10 stars for everything ⭐️Staff, rooms, food, cleanliness, friendliness and location: everything was great!The charming furnishings and layout of the booked double room and suite made you feel very comfortable and welcome.Our Labrador was also warmly welcomed and felt “poodle” comfortable 😁The exclusivity of the hotel is characterized by the quality of the food in the restaurant and the overall ambience.We can only warmly recommend the “Zum Schwan” to everyone!

Very great hotel!The boss is very friendly and accommodating. Despite arriving earlier there were no problems. The service is incredibly friendly. The rooms are large, comfortably furnished and very clean! The hotel is also well located and there is a bakery and other shops right around the corner. There are parking spaces right in front of the door.

We used this hotel as an intermediate stop on the Werra cycle path. Everything was great except my bed was past its prime! I had my back in the morning!

Unfortunately the quality of the schnitzels has deteriorated significantly. They were extremely dry and also too thin. Last year we got 2 per plate, this time only 1, which none of us liked. A pity....
