The hotel has a special charm. It is a lovingly restored, listed old train station building. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though the hotel is located right next to the tracks, it is very quiet. The food is particularly worth mentioning. We felt very comfortable. Great for hikers, bikers and bicycle travelers.

We had the pleasure of staying overnight at the Waldbahnhof Sauerland while we were working in the nearby area as part of an SEV measure. The service and hospitality were exceptional.To highlight positively:Uncomplicated arrival: Even though we arrived outside business hours, everything was prepared. We were able to go straight to our rooms without asking - which was extremely pleasant after a long day at work.Friendly staff: The staff was always helpful and courteous. We immediately felt welcome.Cleanliness and comfort: The rooms were cozy and clean. We were able to relax well and had everything we needed.Location: The Waldbahnhof Sauerland is located in the middle of beautiful nature. Perfect for unwinding after work.Overall, a top recommendation for anyone traveling in the region. Many thanks to the Waldbahnhof team – we’ll be happy to come back!

You can tell that the fun here has no future as a hotel. Savings are made at every end. Mainly when eating, even though they call themselves a hotel - restaurant. There is better selection and quality in every canteen. The staff responds to requests and criticism to some extent, but in the end they wanted us 200 euros for hot water and coffee (a total of 80 cups from the machine). If you want to get ripped off, you don't go into a forest. The rooms are nice, but not cleaned enough and the heating in my room didn't work. Even if you can tell that people are making an effort, I can't recommend it, especially for school budgets (especially not for older classes). With so many people we get a better price than individuals. And there, too, the price-performance ratio was not balanced.

We had dinner for 7. Service was friendly, correct with staff anticipating without being pushy. The menu has classical German options and despit us choosing diffent courses the food was served at the same time. The wine and beer was good value for money. Overall we had a pleasant evening. Hope more guests will visit this relatively new restaurant.

We spent 4 days in this beautiful historic building. The staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast and food in the restaurant were very good. The location is very good for hikes. Easy access to other holiday destinations by train on the doorstep.We would be happy to come back.

Hotel with charm.Room:Now I know why there is usually carpet in the hallways in hotels... Because the problem here is that you can hear every step in the room when someone is walking in the hallway. There is no carpet laid, just wooden floorboards (both hallway and room). Unfortunately, this makes it very noisy and it seems as if the person is right in the room and is walking outside. But since there are only a few rooms per hallway (5), it's not that bad because only a few people walk there. In terms of comfort, it is completely sufficient for the weekend and for young people. The "high-performance athletes" should be careful and perhaps make various activities quieter, as everything that can be heard from the hallway in the room can also be heard the other way around ;-)Unfortunately, the bathroom area is negative. Due to the construction, this is a very narrow bathroom cubicle (shower, toilet and sink) that was subsequently built into the room. The use is acceptable so far but I can't make sense of why it is built in such a way that you can look directly into it from the loft bed without any privacy screen. You should do something like a simple privacy film, frosted glass or something similar.Eat:Maybe we were just unlucky, but unfortunately at 7 p.m. there was nothing left on the menu except the kale. This was pretty heavily priced including the Mettenden (spice and NOT the price). Maybe it was just the cooking staff who were in love. The breakfast was normal for this price range and, given the few rooms, understandably not too rich, otherwise too much would end up in the bin.Bar:It's funny when travelers come into the bar area and ask, puzzled, where the tracks are. It's not called "Waldbahnhof Sauerland" for nothing, because you have to go through the bar to get to the tracks and vice versa.Staff:Friendly and helpful across the board. No complaints.Conclusion:If you don't want to spend the weekend in Halligalli Willingen, you're in good hands there. Unfortunately, I don't recommend it for longer stays.
