A beautiful ensemble around the old mill, everything was very well maintained and beautifully decorated.Rooms are a bit small, but very clean and nicely furnished in a country house style. Everything you need is there...The people at the hotel were exceptionally nice and took all of your wishes into account. Very pleasant atmosphere! The location in the middle of the forest with wonderful long hiking opportunities is simply fantastic. The breakfast was very nicely prepared and very good.Only the rolls and bread didn't seem so inviting.I didn't like the dinner that much, for the price it wasn't special enough in terms of taste and preparation. The composition around the spaghetti was too normal in terms of taste and appearance and the consistency of the dessert mousse was more like quark...just doesn't seem as well cooked.I would vacuum the beautiful old seats in the restaurant again because of the crumbs...Overall, a beautiful place that I can particularly recommend for people who want to completely immerse themselves in nature and stay in a clean and warmly run hotel.I would come back.

We were here for a late lunch in mid-September 2024. We were assured on the phone that the bistro was open. On site we discovered that it was locked and barricaded. …

Went to the Bärenmühle for a weekend in July. The location is wonderful. The room was very nicely decorated in the old style, except for the beds. The food was very good. You could tell that everything is cooked and prepared here with a lot of love. However, for the price, the portions could have been a little larger! The breakfast was very unusual with lots of different homemade little things that made you curious about breakfast the next day!The service was always very friendly, attentive and accommodating.

Today, on the occasion of a hike in the Lengeltal, we stopped at the Buddenbrock Bistro at the Hotel Bärenmühle. Our second attempt here. Underground again. …

Just the journey gives you an idea of how wonderfully located this hotel is! The Bärenmühle is surrounded by greenery with its beautiful half-timbered houses, swimming pond and well-kept meadows for relaxation. The staff were all very friendly and helpful to us. Small extra requests were fulfilled immediately.Small menu in the afternoon and a menu for dinner. Reserve a table on the small gallery - just lovely! Breakfast was great with a large selection. We lived in Heiner's kingdom of heaven. Very spacious, the terrace to sunbathe and just enjoy. Short hikes directly from the hotel, Haina Monastery and Marburg - all highly recommended!

Country hotel, yes, romantic hotel, noPros:The houses are very beautiful from the outside, as is the green surroundings. The food tastes very good and is very well prepared.Cons:Dinner is very expensive. The breakfast is good, but unfortunately "standard" and not as the pictures suggest. They clearly gloss over the real situation. The furnishings of the rooms are "exciting", my children had them in their children's room 20 years ago, in terms of the electrical appliances. In terms of the furniture, some of the furnishings could have been inherited from my grandmother. The kettle is broken, the water runs out of the bottom. It's one thing that devices are old, but they should be functional. The photo on the website with the laptop on an old wooden table in the countryside is also interesting, because as bad as the WiFi worked for us, you won't have much fun with it there. The prices for the drinks are extremely overpriced.Although there was a sign on the door saying "Do not disturb", room service still came through the locked door and didn't leave until its day's work was completed (and this in a 'romantic hotel', where of course you can have romantic things at any time things could do). Conclusion:Instead of building a new building, my recommendation is to modernize the old buildings, especially the furnishings, or truthfully adapt the photos accordingly. The hostess’ aggression and judgments about the guests’ actions should also stop immediately. It only seems important here that distinguished guests give the hotel more status due to the management's previous journalistic work, combined with a pinch of literature. There is also an atmosphere of fear in the restaurant, especially among the foreign staff, and criticism of the hotel or the management is not welcomed. Here you are expected to function the way the management wants, so to speak “holiday according to their wishes”.As far as the romance aspect is concerned, there is a lot of fairytale-like characters advertised here, but the real fairytale is the difference between the facts depicted on the website and reality.Special tip: The Kununu reviews are also worth a look.

I visited the Bärenmühle as a moderator of a workshop and was almost always very impressed by the location, the house, the rooms, the kitchen and the service. All the employees were very friendly and took care of everything. The place is ideal for lovers of peace and nature. The house has style, the rooms are (at least partially) very generously sized and equipped. The cuisine is excellent and offers many regional products. The only disadvantage is the sometimes very weak WiFi, which is no longer available in some rooms. This is excellent for people who take their digital detox. If you combine a professional purpose with the visit, that can be a hindrance. Nevertheless, staying there was a win all around.
