Bikehotel im Zentrum Freiburg-Merzhausen

I wanted to discover Freiburg and the surrounding area by bike. Actually came across this hotel completely by chance.If you spend most of your time in the mountains in spring, you usually get used to a constantly dirty bike - just on vacation. However, like a gift from the gods, this hotel offers a washing station with water collection. The. Was. PERFECT!There is also a very large and secure storage room. In this one I could see a camera. Whether this works or not, other (much younger hotels) don't even have any way to turn it off. Here is a secured room in an already secured underground car park....Not only are there plenty of tools, but there is also a station to jack up the bike. According to the reception you can also buy spare parts there. To what extent, I have no idea. There are also various bike stores relatively close by, which are even quite generously stocked with mountain bike material. Whether from the hotel or these shops, you can safely get back on your bike (after damage) quite quickly.A few more words about the location: The hotel is located a little further outside of Freiburg. Typical for Freiburg, you can quickly get to the city center by bike. But if you want to pay a little homage to the barley rockets, you can reach the “Vauban” stop in about 12 minutes on foot. Apparently there will soon be a tram station approximately at the level of the hotel on the main street. However, there was a construction site there during my visit. According to the hotel there is also a bus. My recommendation: take the tram. In the evening you can easily go for a little walk, it's really nice.The hotel is not right on the main road, but not too far away either. You don't really notice the traffic noise and there was absolute silence at night. I'll say something rather negative about the night.So when it comes to location, everything is done right here. Whether you go into the city or directly on your bike, you fight against altitude and quickly realize that you come from northern Germany and that ant hills actually make you gasp. Well, you never stop learning...The room was big. Very large! The bathroom was nice and simple and looked modern. I have no idea, you can't complain. The room also had a moon glowing around the edges. It was nice.BUT: There is an outside blind. First of all, that's all well and good. But that has nothing to do with darkening. It protects from prying eyes (other guests, I'm not an eye-catcher). However, the streetlight was able to brightly illuminate my room without much trouble. Basically nice for now, but at night I wanted to politely decline that with a curtain... the rod for a curtain was on the wall, just like I was in bed. Only the curtain was still on spring break? :(Breakfast was included in the price (when I booked). This is also very generous and the staff also prepare fresh and individual eggs for each guest. Class. The coffee was surprisingly good too. It may come from an industrial machine, but the hoteliers have hit the jackpot.The rolls were fresh, as were the offerings at the buffet. So there's no better way to start the day (except with less light in the room at night... :D).But now to my absolute highlight, which I tried out about two minutes after arriving...the beer vending machine.I LOVE light. And then such a generous offer of light beer at a fair price in an ice-cold machine where you can pay by card.Almost in tears of joy, I HAD to wet my lips with it after a good ten hour journey.All in all: an absolute recommendation...with curtains then.

The bike hotel is recommended. The location for cycling tours is also very good. Large bike cellar for storage and also with tools for repairs. The staff is very friendly. The only point of criticism is the limited selection at the breakfast buffet. There is still room for improvement here.

Excellent value for money.The hotel is still in the process of being renovated, but many things are already in a new and tidy condition.The bicycle service in cooperation with the BikeShop Freiburg works perfectly and is problem-free.The hotel has a cellar with appropriate options for storing bikes. There are various sockets here to recharge your batteries after a tour to the summit of the Feldberg.Every employee we met is extremely courteous and helpful.A clear recommendation.

Very nice location for cycling or hiking. Freiburg center can also be reached on foot about 5.3km.

We were there without a car, but there was no problem at all. Service was great and the breakfast was also great. What I liked best was the good bed and the large room with the 'moon LED'.
