After a quick call and description of our situation and after the specified check-in time. We were warmly welcomed into Gerry’s backpacking accommodation. We had misplaced our key to our actual accommodation and could no longer get into it. There were four of us and we only had what we carried with us during the day.Gerry looked after us very carefully. He also gave us towels for a shower in a room to lock up. It was cozy, warm and quiet in the house. We slept very well! It is a backpacker accommodation that was clean with a kitchen, a small backyard and with photos from all over the world. Which wonderfully showcased Gerry's love of travel and cosmopolitanism.Thank you for the great welcome and warm hospitality.

An ideal overnight stay for bikers in transit. Christine, the housekeeper, strives to fulfill every wish of the guests. The rooms are furnished like in a youth hostel and are completely sufficient. If you stay longer, you can quickly get into the city by bike.

Hello GerryI have to respond to your answer againAccording to your employee, you put this water bottle in the kitchen without mentioning that there was chlorine or a cleaning agent in it.It's pretty bold that I should have drunk it too.You don't come up with an excuse but instead pass it on to your employees. Very shabby. It seems to me that you lack the insight to take responsibility for your own misconduct. If a hotel or hostel contaminates food and there is no apology from management, in my opinion there is no improvement in sightHere it would be a case for the trade supervisory office or the health department to pay a visit to your house. You probably have multiple hygiene plans for the kitchen, toilets and beds. And yes - I will not visit your house again.Best regardsRob de Boer

I stayed at Gerry's for 2 nights and had probably the smallest room with a bunk bed - but all to myself. Of course it's all a bit simple, but clean (including the shared bathroom) and for me it served its purpose. Overall, everything at Gerry's is somehow original. Christine, the "housekeeper", is super nice and tries very hard to make the guests as pleasant as possible. And Gerry himself is also nice, but also very communicative. But if you point out that you first need a little rest, a coffee and no stressful topics, he accepts that too. I liked it :-)

Except for the very nice receptionist, it's a shame to stay overnight.I travel a lot and I think I can make a really bad judgment.I certainly won’t forget Diesel Hostel. In addition, the water should be enjoyed with caution. (Chlorine)

Beware of bed bugs!!!We stayed as a group of five people in Gerry’s Backpacker Hostel (7 bed rooms/Asian room) in September 2023. We were warmly welcomed here and the hostel was well located for our bike tour around Lake Constance. However, we all had a lot of stitches after this visit. After research and pharmacy visits, we came to the conclusion that everyone was bitten by bed bugs. We're not writing the review until a week later because we're still very tormented by the bed bug bites and the itching. Sometimes we had over 100 bites spread over the body. The owner was informed by telephone. With this review we want to once again point out the urgency of the topic.
