I am only giving this a 2 out of 5 for location to Phantasialand and the breakfast and the room . Regarding the staff rude and unpleasant manner towards families . …

Nice location when traveling, close to the highway. Parking is available right in front of the hotel for 8€ per night but we didn’t have to use it as just before the gate of Ibis was a few parking spots and we were lucky because one of them was free.We got the room 120 which smelled horrible once we entered. We didn’t know if it was coming from shower waste or it was just sawage but decided to take shower and see if we get rid of it. But even after showers and with open window the odor was very strong.I asked the receptionist to change the room and after that we moved to 117 which was a lot better with no smell at all.The breakfast was surprisingly good, quite wide selection of food. You can make yourself fresh waffles. All over we had a nice rest, this hotel is perfect for this purpose.

BEFORE YOU BOOK, BARE IN YOUR MIND IT IS IN THE GREEN ZONE, AND MUST GET A BADGE BEFORE ENTERING THE AREA OTHERWISE €80 FINE IS THE SURPRISE IN YOUR LETTER BOX AFTER THE HOLIDAY! You can’t book this badge, only in advance before you enter the zone. So do this a few weeks before you plan to go there.Rang the hotel’s number for availability. The guy asked for full personal details, included bank details. He tried to force €80 for a membership, otherwise he said he can’t guarantee the availability for the room. We declined to share details over the phone so instead just drive down to the hotel (just after 9 pm) and booked the room by the reception desk. The lady at the check-in was really friendly, helpful. She deserves 5 ⭐️.However, the hotel is full with foreign workers (using this place as a dorm), what is kind of annoying. They were rude and loud. Our room was spacious but very dirty, dusty everywhere. Shower wasn’t clean at all.Breakfast is for extra charges (cca. €13.50 pp) - some of the guests were coughing over the self-service counters. We avoid this breakfast.Morning staff (housekeepers) we couldn’t even say good morning, one of them slammed the door in front of me by the entrance while I was packing out my stuff into the car.Car park is £8 per night. Should be free really.Room was about €85 - for this amount we could get a real hotel.Disappointed, I thought the IBIS logo means quality. First and definitely the last time on their facilities.

The room was dirty an needed to call to make it clean. Taking a shower was an adventure : water is not stable : very hot and then very cold (without touching the tap of course). Nevertheless, the personal was nice and polite.

The check in and the room were all good. Unfortunately on the second day the lift was broken and I had damaged the ligaments in my ankle. The prices were heavily inflated, €240, for the Euros which is disappointing but then I guess the availability wouldn't have been there for me to get a room. It is a good 25 minute ride into the centre of Cologne or longer by public transport.

Very noisy plumbing all night (Room 117). Is Ibis running a dragging furniture across the floor training course at 06.00? Don't book this hotel if your own home is quiet as you won't be able to sleep.

Bed was okay on first night, swapped rooms and bed wasn't great on second. Showers didn't work particularly well. Reception staff very good though. Drinks are pricey. Location isn't too bad I suppose. Looks a little run down from outside.

Bad quality for such a price. The water heating system at the shower was health hazardous and defective. I got burnt twice. Water was either icing cold or burning hot. I spent 10 min trying to adjust it and when I finally succedded then it suddenly changed to burning hot and burnt my body. I reported it at the front desk but nothing was done.Additionally, there was no drinking water in the room, I had to pay for a bottle of water at the front desk.
