Stayed here with my partner during our honeymoon. It gives a sense of privacy because each room is a separate bungalow, and a homey feeling because each place has a terrace in front. The room is spacious and clean. The vibe is quiet and peaceful but it is a close walk to restaurants and shops. There is a pool and a reading corner as well. Every rooms are at the ground floor so you don't have to worry abour carrying your suitcases upstairs. The staff is really helpful. Recommended stay at Sanur, Bali if you are looking for a traditional Bali style place with tranquil vibe.

Very nice little hotel with everything we needed. Nice comfy bed, plenty of storage space, large clean bathroom, very good supply of drinking water, lovely patio with nice chairs to sit in. Close to pool which was very good. Breakfast was tasty and varied and was served in a typical Balinese style building with lovely tropical plants surrounding it. TV reception wasn’t fantastic but we were able to get a few channels of interest. The only really disappointing factor was the internet which was very patchy and unreliable. Hopefully that will be improved as I’m sure other guests would have had similar bad experiences. Neverthelessin summary I world say it’s on my list of repeat hotels. Hopefully next time the internet will be better.

We stayed at Bumi Ayu Hotel to spend our last day in Bali before we caught our very early morning plane back home.Wherever I stay, I always read the worst reviews about it first, to get some ideas and perspectives. To be fair, this place do feel like it belongs more in the past times, but I think some of it they might do on purpose, for example with their choice of old mosquito nets, old room keys, and old, solid wood furnitures. When we got into the bathroom, some of the stuffs are new, such as toilet seat, some of the tiles etc. I think yes some of their bed sheets, towels etc do look not that new, but from my experience this is quite common in Indonesia and with this price range, and as long as they are clean, I have no problem with it.The feel inside its complex is still like how we would have felt if we got to a good Bali Hotel 15 or 20 years ago. I think many people will actually find it to be great. The place is quite lush, with lots of plants and trees. We can even hear gecko sound in the afternoon around 4-5 pm (if im not mistaken, geckos prefer to live where the air is still fresh, and this is actually in the middle of the city). With such environment, of course we want to leave our door tightly closed most of the time, otherwise mosquitoes may come in. We actually brought mosquito repellent but we didn’t need to use it here.I saw that many of its guests are around 35 to 50 or 60ish. However when I happened to chat with the owner, he said that many of them are actually revisiting guests. With such hospitable staffs, I think it’s no wonder that many choose to come back there (and stay for quite long). Its location is quite good, because we can walk to the beach, and we also can walk to some eating places around, and that time we also took a cab to Sanur beach just near by. Just remember to inform your taxi driver when going to Bumi Ayu Hotel, to go through Jl Danau Tamblingan, so that s/he won’t have to go through a very narrow road. Also if you come from Sanur Harbour (such as from Nusa Penida), it’s best to pre-arrange your pick-up, because locals don’t allow online taxis to pick up in the harbour (and actually we need to walk quite far out).I think I understand the lower stars reviews, because if you are looking for a new and hype place then this one might not be for you. But if you seem to like some of the things I describe above, then this place might deserve a try.

This was the first hotel we stayed at during our trip of Bali and Lombok, and it was fabulous. The rooms are large, very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Great location, lovely staff and great pool. We loved this place. It’s really near to all the shops, bars and restaurants of Sanur.
