We spent one night in the Greif. It was a Christmas present. It was perfect all around. We were well looked after, the instructions over the phone worked wonderfully and we immediately felt welcome. A first coffee to arrive, a little gin to get you in the mood and the adventure began. The location was decorated with great attention to detail. It was clean and, I think, smelled wonderful. Our boatman was very attentive. There was even extra oat milk provided for the coffee. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and again prepared with a lot of love. You can also play your own favorite music via the box. It doesn't get any better. The view is also phenomenal, at any time of day.We can recommend it without any ifs and buts. It's something very special. We felt very comfortable. Thank you!

What an ambience and unique setting. Highly recommended, we really liked it.Tip for guests: Eat sparingly the evening before, the breakfast is really tasty and very extensive 😊

We spent two wonderful, unique days in the "Greif". Unfortunately, I can't understand the negative comments. Maybe the staff was changed here, but our two port ladies were just great and the overnight stay in the crane was a fantastic experience. We arrived on Sunday, left our luggage at the crane in the morning and made our way to the port. We were informed by phone when everything was ready and I was so blown away by the crane (especially after the comments here, I was almost a little afraid of what to expect). Everything is so beautifully prepared and furnished. The fireplace was steaming in no time, the coffee machine was on, there was homemade limoncello and a birthday serenade was played for my partner and there was a birthday corner for him :) soooo nice.I really liked the interior design and the small space was used so sensibly and in a beautiful way. I particularly liked the double rain shower with fireplace (yes, some of the jets were a little slanted, but that didn't detract from the experience nor did it flood the ground floor (and yes, painting over it, as described below helps in case of doubt). I I was rather fascinated by how well it worked to integrate the walk-in shower into the room without the whole thing being flooded.Upstairs had a comfortable bed, a huge TV (but who watches TV with a view?), and two chairs with a view. Yes, one of them creaks a bit, but that's it. You can sit there wonderfully in the evening and look at the harbor. I only noticed from the lamp that the crane swayed slightly, but that's no surprise when you spend the night on a pontoon. The breakfast was just great! Great selection, lovingly prepared in a basket that was brought to us in the morning. We were lucky enough to be able to have breakfast on the terrace in the sun with a view of the Elphi... fantastic! All in all, it was unique and we really grew to love “our” crane. Where else in the city can you enjoy the view of Speicherstadt and Elphi in peace and quiet - and in a unique, lovingly prepared location. We therefore had a relaxing HH weekend and enjoyed a lot of time on the crane (you can do the HH adventure program another time) and thought it was great.Sure, it's probably less great when it's raining and cold... but that generally applies to HH and also the North Sea coast, unless you have a hotel with a good SPA area. The crane certainly has a hefty price tag, but there are only two of you instead of hundreds of other guests and you don't have the standard 5* package, although that is of course nice. It's just a different experience that you book.Oh yes... definitely stop by Harry's Hafenbazar when it's open. On the one hand, Caro is super niceand on the other hand, the exhibition is one that you don't get to see that often :)

Completely overpriced. 450€ for 2 people, but you get a toilet that is half under water after showering on a cracked floor, dirty coffee machine, no internet, fireplace didn't work, bedside table half broke out of the wall, an introduction as a WhatsApp message that led you to the key .The highlight, however, was the guest book, which was filled exclusively with praise and from which some pages had obviously been torn out... was there criticism in there?Only the gentleman who brought us breakfast in the morning and with whom we had such a nice chat when we left was a ray of hope.

A great idea. But for 450 euros per night we were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness. But it was almost made up for by a wonderful breakfast basket the next morning. And as an apology there was a bottle of wine and a discount on the next booking. This is how you treat guests👍👍

We spent a night in the crane at the end of April. The crane offers a great location and a great view. The breakfast was very tasty. However, there are some defects that shouldn't have been there given the price.Unfortunately the fireplace didn't work. This was only explained to us after we asked why we couldn't turn on the fireplace. The air conditioning/heating upstairs wasn't working either, which made it quite cold. You should be able to set the light in different colors, but that wasn't possible either. When we arrived we were told that you could watch films on Netflix etc. on the television. But the internet connection is so bad that not a single film loads. For the price we expected everything to work perfectly.

We stayed at the "Greif" for 2 days over the weekend in autumnal weather and had a wonderful time! You trade some comfort for experience, but it's worth it!!! If you expect 5 stars for the price - which you definitely get in Hamburg for the price - you shouldn't book the harbor crane. If, on the other hand, you want to enjoy an incomparably beautiful time for two in a wonderful atmosphere and view, this is the right place for you.The breakfast alone with the lovingly put together breakfast basket and the view of the “Elphie” is simply fantastic. Tip: Freddy Quinn, Hans Albers and other sailor music will create even more atmosphere 😎To the critics: Yes, the heating isn't perfect and a dehumidifier, which doesn't yet exist, certainly makes sense since the shower, which works great, doesn't seem to have its own vent. For the shower: if it sprays to the side, simply slide the back of your hand over the nubs of the rain shower. Those in the know know that limescale sometimes gets in there and clogs the nozzles. The problem is that you can only do this when the shower is running and you are standing under it, which is not possible for the cleaners without showering yourself 😉 Maybe you should put a notice on the shower. So: A mega experience for people who want to experience something different and don't expect the comfort of the 4-season.

We have on the night of February 14th. on February 15th stayed at the Greif and are extremely disappointed; unfortunately the Greif is absolutely not worth the money. We were greeted very friendly and the breakfast was okay, but that was it. The “experience shower” deserves its name in a negative sense. The left side is just dribbling, the right side works, but because there is a plastic stone there, you can't get down here. With the hand shower you spray all the way to the floor of the toilet. Unfortunately, the fireplace didn't work either, which was announced to us when we arrived, but that's not possible given the price. The griffin itself was very 🥶 in the evening. There was an electric heater downstairs and a fan heater upstairs, plus the air conditioning upstairs, both of which are unfortunately very loud, which means you either can't sleep or freeze to death. Unfortunately, the internet connection kept breaking down, so it wasn't possible to watch a short program, which either happened upside down in bed or on two not so stable chairs. The air conditioning could only be adjusted using a knob, without a display showing how many degrees were now adjusted. Unfortunately, the Jura machine isn't really high quality either, but the Bose box is really good. We have already written to the host, but have not received a response yet.For the price I would recommend booking somewhere else.

02/21/23The result of the correspondence was disappointing!!!02/15 Update:We received an immediate response to our letter today, in which we apologized several times and expressed gratitude for our criticism, which we perceived as very positive. Thank you for that!We were able to enjoy the “Greif” for our 1st wedding anniversary… and have to say, a great place to stay, but NOT worth €450!!!! First of all, our boatman Henrick was great and super friendly…. The breakfast basket was perfect!!!Unfortunately, the fireplace didn't work, the internet didn't work either and so the TV didn't work either... The motion detectors in the outside area also didn't work... One of the chairs in the sleeping area "creaked" so much that it couldn't be used without being afraid. that it collapses, as does the bed.. it “creaks” with every movement…. Since the “Gryphon” is not exactly in the water, we had to turn our sleeping position 180 degrees at night, so that our feet were towards the headboard and our heads were towards the stairs… The toilet paper holder in the toilet was loose… the spare roll holder fell off… Find the “spare parts”. you then between the steel beam and the wall…. You can also find a lot of cobwebs and dirt there… the coffee machine also needs to be cleaned thoroughly…. The shower is very nice... only the floor covering is "cracked".... the two rain showers spray in all directions.Very unfortunate. Also for our family, who gave us this overnight stay.Elke and Ralph Jücker

The idea of converting the long-serving crane into a small and exquisite accommodation and mooring it in this unique location is great!!! What a view!!!But when we were there, there was unfortunately a gap between performance and price. It started when we were informed about access to the key box hours before entry via WhatsApp by an older, non-native speaking lady (profile picture) who was a stranger to me. We were and stayed alone. That was irritating and staying without information was not the plan. Because of our professional experience with both hotel and technical experience, it wasn't great for us, but it was ok. However, there was no network for the Smart TV and the Bluetooth box did not want to connect. The WiFi password wasn't correct.... And the lady who was the only contact option (the mobile number provided in advance was dead) didn't respond. As youth hostel members we felt really “homey”. As radio lovers, we were a little sad. What really bothered me was the poor quality of the tea advertised in the information sheet (best before date had already expired a long time ago). Going to the toilet was disgusting with the inevitable view of the dried remains of the previous ones in the brush. The breakfast was nicely put together... with a view of the Philharmonie! To date, about 2 weeks ago, there has been no response to my letter to the operator. One last piece of information for those who are sensitive: The heating in the upper part of the crane with the bed and lookout is not designed for winter. Blankets are available, as is an additional fan heater.
