Very special hotel. The room was incredible, high tech and classy and with a lovely balcony facing a leafy quiet street. Personally for me the location is one of the best things about this hotel. However, if you like more noise and pollution and do not enjoy walking into town along the beautiful lake next to the Fontenay then maybe this hotel is not for you. Breakfast is amazing and the rooftop bar just as good. The best thing about this hotel is the staff, they will ALL look after you like you are part of their family, that’s special and not easy to achieve that level of service.

Enjoyable stay, relaxing rooms and the spa was calm and welcoming with a great view. One of the doormen and most other personnel were friendly. Nice breakfast although whoever makes the scrambled eggs probably has never tried it themselves.Loved the rooftop bar (thank you doorman for letting me know it exists) and especially the fantastic loungey-romantic live music.Oh and the balcony doors are way too heavy. Bring a strong man to open them for you.

Had such an amazing stay. The entire hotel is luxurious and I was blown away by the wonderful service. Special shoutout to the kind staff member who brought me newborn diapers in the middle of the night when I ran out.

If you just need a place to sleep at, the rooms are the best I have ever been in and I can safely recommend the Fontenay for that. The breakfast (both the spot and the food) was also superb. However, if you want a 5* hotel with all that the 5* should mean, then the Fontenay is a disappointment. My experience might be due to bad luck but I still think it speaks about the hotel in general. We were there with my girlfriend for 5 days, and the public sauna was broken during those 5 days. Those things can happen but every employee had a different answer on when it would be fixed, which just made it feel they were inventing an answer on the spot and that the sauna was not in a hurry to be repaired. There is a hammam (that was still not on at 9am even though the Spa opens at 7am...) and private saunas that needs to be booked (for a cost of course, which can explain the lack of hurry to fix the normal one) but it does not replace the broken public sauna. The hotel tried to compensate us by offering us a bottle of champagne, but we had to send it back because my girlfriend is pregnant and cannot drink alcohol. That was all the hotel did, nothing else. I chose the Fontenay over the other hotels mostly for its Spa so I leave that hotel with a real bitter taste in my mouth. Then, the fitness room is small (probably half the size of our room) and clearly lacking in equipment if you want to do something other than running on a treadmill. Finally, the check-out was also surprisingly cold, the employee just telling us what we needed to pay as extra and that's it. No question on whether we enjoyed our stay or not, but I put that on the young age of the employee who is probably just starting. It's a beautiful hotel, with great rooms, but everything else is not up to a 5* standard.

Best hotel in Hamburg. The room is super nice and well maintained. The small little details, the warm bathroom floor, the bidet toilet, the on/off button of the shower, even their shampoo and conditioner are very well curated. Restaurant food is nice just a bit too salty. The rest is 10/10!!! Highly recommend! The customer service is sooooo good.I requested a prescription medication and Nina helped me to arrange the doctor, I got the medication less then one hour.

I’m so glad that we’re finally home. After three days of sleeping without a/c, I’m glad the trip was over. We complained the first day about it and a few more things that didn’t work. They repaired the bathtub, but not the rest. So the second night we decided to open the window and the noise coming from outside was unbearable. Every so often there was someone coming in with a sport car driving in first gear trying to show off. Then at 1am the fire alarm went off and we all had to leave the rooms. We almost beg them to repair the a/c and we thought they finally did until we turned off the lights and went to sleep. Minutes later we realised that the a/c also went off. At breakfast you have to chase the servers to get your order and remind them several times. It was definitely not worthy at all for the price and quality of the service.

Recently stayed at The Fontenay in Hamburg, located perfectly near Alsterpark and the Alster Lakes. The food was extremely delicious. The panoramic views and exceptional service were standout features. A bit expensive, but definitely worth it for a luxurious stay!On the other hand, somewhat it is pricey.
